This involves pre transplant assessment and workup, perioperative care and post-transplant management with regard to infections and their impact on mortality and morbidity. It also involves an understanding of the mechanism of action of various immunosuppressive, evaluation of infectious risk based on net state of immunosuppressive received and the likely pathogens that could be encountered during this time. This conference is a primer for a target audience of Infectious Disease fellows, Post graduate students and Faculty in Internal Medicine, Transplant related medical and surgical specialties in solid organ transplantation, Bone marrow transplantation, Pharmacy students and Faculty involved in the Transplant team. It is our endeavor that this conference will spark an interest in scientific management of infections in these immunosuppressed individuals.
