She has received funding for work in Kenya, Zambia, Tanzania, and India. Her primary research focus is on HIV prevention, care, and treatment among mothers in sub-saharan Africa. She is currently developing an intervention to address family-level influences on women s uptake and retention in HIV care during pregnancy. ACTIVE 05/1/2017 current Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) (3R01 HD S1; PIs: Lisa Abuogi, Janet Turan) Maximizing Adherence and Retention for Women and Infants in the Context of Option B+: Assessing adherence among HIV positive pregnant and postpartum women on antiretroviral therapy in Kenya: a substudy of the Mother and Infant Visit Adherence and Treatment Engagement (MOTIVATE) study. The goal of this study is to pilot test the use of dried blood spots to determine the cumulative adherence of pregnant and post-partum women to tenfovir-based antiretroviral regimens and further examine correlates to adherence through in-depth interviews. I am leading the qualitative interview component of the study. Role: Co-Investigator American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) 08/01/2017 current Pilot Research Award (PI: Christina Cruz) Task-Shifting Children s Mental Health Treatment to Classroom Teachers in India The objective of this pilot trial is to establish the feasibility of training classroom teachers to deliver evidence-based mental health care to overcome the treatment gap and increase access to care for children with behavioral concerns in resource-limited settings. This intervention will be tested in rural primary schools of the Eastern Himalayas of India. Role: Co-Investigator COMPLETED National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) 09/01/16 08/31/17 Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award Institutional Research Training Grant (4T3 2AI007447; PI: Thomas Campbell) Colorado HIV Research Training Program This institutional research training grant is a multidisciplinary program that provides basic, translational and clinical HIV-related postdoctoral training under the direction of faculty at the University of Colorado. The program provides career development support, including research mentorship and coursework. My mentored research project through this award focuses on examining the impact of mobile phone and community-based interventions to effectively engage the male partners of HIV-positive pregnant and postpartum women in HIV care in western Kenya.
