7 Quotes From Burnett I do not regard organopathy as something outside of homeopathy, but as being embraced by and included in it, though not identical or co-extensive with it. 8 MORE Quotes From Burnett I am very far from supposing that in the vast majority of cases an organ disease exists primarily and permanently by itself independently of the organism on the contrary, I know well from close observation of nature that the part and the whole are commonly qualitatively the same... I beg no one of my readers will confound what I here say with local treatment of disease. I am thinking and writing about self-elective specific treatment, not local treatment... And I am bound to say that some of the organ remedies of Rademacher possess a direct healing power over organ diseases that their [homeopathic] provings in no way explain.

10 Breadth of Locus PRIMARY ORGAN WEAKNESS: predominant constraint that is the full case of the client. This is like the full book, the complete story SECONDARY ORGAN WEAKNESS: the symptoms are tangential, an also feature, rather than central to constraint. This is like a little sub-plot in the client's story.

11 Location, Location, Location!!! All disease begins on the level of the vital force. But it does not stay there! Disease progresses from sensation and function into tissue manifestation. The vital force is NOT RANDOM IN ITS CHOICES about where pathology arises! Specific tissues or organs or body systems are targeted and disrupted in a way that is consistent with the state of the organism.

12 Specificity of Seat Remedy states show specific preference for particular body parts. When those particular body parts have organic tissue pathology, the remedies that act most strongly are those with an affinity! The constitutional remedy may not have affinity for the tissue or organ that is compromised...

13 Finding a Constitutional Remedy to Repair This A good constitutional remedy can resolve this organic tissue pathology... Remedy selection is based on the overall presenting state of the client, together with personal and family history The constitutional remedy matches the state of the client... which may or may not be a close match to the 'seat of disease' So what other option do we have????

14 Client Assessment (1) Physiology of the organ (compared to healthy organ) through labs, symptoms, medication history Compare to known disease patterns of that organ Investigate past insults to the organ (trauma, iatrogenic, lifestyle, environmental) Look at primary organ symptoms in the case (at the organ site) Look at secondary organ symptoms in the case (through out the organism)

15 Client Assessment (2) Match the organ pattern: the relationship between the organ and the sick person Consider sarcodes when paucity of symptoms When the organ is THE MAIN CONSTRAINT Every remedy given aggravates the organ Symptoms so overt that it is hard to see constitutional case (eg baby with severe eczema) NWS toxic exposure or drug therapeutics or trauma

16 Implementation How to use organ therapeutics Most common potencies: 3x 5x - 6x Usually given in tincture form, 5-10 drops 3 times daily Continue for 2-3 weeks Re-evaluate after 3 weeks, avoid habituation, alternate between nourishing herb, cell salt, gemmotherapy Use as adjunct or intercurrent to constitutional care, listen for the voice of the client

17 Review of Strategy Suggestions: Listen for the organ voice in the client's intake, remembering that there are both primary (local) and secondary (distant or systemic) manifestations. Consider options of working through the organ weakness Remember that the client is unconcerned about the philosophical underpinnings of homeopathy the client just wants to get better! So use all the tools in your toolbox to relieve their suffering Practice responsibly know what you are working with. Refer for diagnosis; ask the client to obtain copies of labwork from his/her physician. Clarify. Be safe. Educate about organ specific conditions; use existing references to educate, be clear that you are not diagnosing!
