5 Why we take cases like this... In 1777, Hahnemann arrived in Vienna to attend the Modern School of Vienna, a new approach to teaching medicine The university rector was Joseph von Quarin: he believed in the teaching of medicine at the patient's bedside, also teaching was Anton Stoerck who insisted on studying medicines. Other schools taught theoretical content in an empirical model with no relation to clinical work. There was a movement within medical training to move away from empiricism, and rationalise therapeutics... to determine the properties of medicaments and to individualize to the client.

Discordance does participation cause conflict within me? Effort what do I have to do? before / during / after? Legalities am I allowed to do this?

12 Typical Healthcare Threshold: Cost On average, the 2009 co-pay for private sector enrollees with co-pays was $21.53 (figure 5). Enrollees with co-pays in the Construction and Retail Trade industries paid slightly higher than average co-pays of $22.74 and $22.56, respectively. Enrollees with co-pays in the Utilities and Transportation sector paid a slightly lower than average co-pay of $20.05.

However, at least 20% of persons visiting practitioners of acupuncture, homeopathy, naturopathy, massage, and hypnosis therapy paid $75 or more per visit.

19 HIGH THRESHOLD needs lowering... Can we lower cost and still make a living? Can we reduce duration and still effectively select a remedy? Can we prevent the client from feeling disruption from the nature of the investigative consult? Can we modify our procedures or office environment?

20 Ways to lower the Client Threshold #1: Re-evaluate consult duration Full consult (complete person 2 hrs) Focus consult (complaint focus 1 hr) #2: Re-evaluate intake forms simplify / reduce #3: In-office support: tea / BFR / aromatherapy #4: No one leaves the office empty handed #5: Anchor-client check after 5 days (5 min phone call)

21 What are the Implications? Initial case taking over multiple appointments? Can you work at the level of a body system, or an acute or an organ support, as well as constitutionally? Changes to your office layout or inventory? Skills development with cell salts / gemmo / herb? Scheduling?

22 SO... are you ready to do this? Visualize yourself as a client (scared and in pain) contacting you what happens from initial contact to client taking remedy? Review every hurdle in the threshold for client participation in your practice. WRITE IT DOWN. Choose 3 specific hurdles to reduce or remove. Consider creating multiple options for client intake. Pick a name for each option, a duration and a price. Do this whether you intend to implement these options or not. Assess your skills to work at varying levels of intervention. Choose 3 specific tasks you will do to develop your skills. Questions?
