2 ABOUT ME My name is Amber Black - a small business owner, Houston native, an International Figure Universe Pro, a fitness expert, an active woman - and autistic. Throughout my entire life, I always felt different, and being different brought a lot of challenges for me personally as my feelings were not always acknowledged in a positive way. It took a great deal of mental, physical, and emotional hardships and triumphs to eventually come to understand, accept, and embrace the uniqueness that makes me into the woman that I am today. I was diagnosed with autism at age 37 after many years of testing and medical consultations that failed to yield any answers. It was a complete shock to me because the discussion on autism centers on children, but not so much, if at all, on adults. After the diagnosis, I ve come to understand a lot of about my life yesterday, today, and tomorrow. I am on a personal mission to educate the world about autism, as well as provide a living example of my mental and physical management of autism. Through proper nutrition, exercise, dietary supplements, and a combnination of traditional and alternative medicine, I have managed to alleviate much of my autistic symptoms. I have since dedicated my life to become a voice in the autistic community to raise awareness about autism and to help others acquire a greater understanding of the condition. As such, I resumed being an active fitness competitor, started forming partnerships in Houston s vibrant medical community, and I launched my website, OfficialAmberBlack.com in 2012 as a place where others can learn about me and about autism. I am excited to start building public, professional, and private relationships to help with my mission. My goal is to empower those that are diagnosed with autism, and show them as well as their family and friends that even with the diagnosis, one can still live a healthy, functional lifestyle.

Amber is also the founder of Autistic Fit Society, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is dedicated to provide an informative, comfortable and structure for empowering individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder to improve their level of physical fitness and nutritional awareness.
