5 JUSTIZVOLLZUGSANSTALT ZWEIBRÜCKEN The prison in Zweibrücken was built between 1839 and 1845 as a Bavarian county jail Since then it had been expanded extensively and still we continue expansion and modernization. Actually 331 men and 95 women are imprisoned in Zweibrücken. Our institution is very active and responsible, concerning the detention of young women and men. Folie 5
6 JUSTIZVOLLZUGSANSTALT ZWEIBRÜCKEN The institution is employing 321 women and men of different professions at the moment. We are the central training institution of Rhineland-Palatinate. Male and female prisoners are trained together in many various professions. Folie 6
7 The German penal system 1. Code of Criminal Procedure (StPO), 2. Prison Act (StVollzG) of 1977, and 3. State enforcement laws (LJVollzG) with their administrative provisions. In the state of Rhineland-Palatinate this is the Provincial Act for the further Development of Correctional and Preventive Detention and Data Protection, dated May 8, Folie 7
