1 Dear Gabor Moczar, president of ECA-EC, after some personal reflexions and knowing that I have the support of two choral organizations I write to express you my wish to be candidate of the Board of ECA-EC. Maybe I m a slow men (living in a fast world) but I can promise you that the last 6 years in the Board of ECA-EC I learned lots of things and even I contribute to some of the achievements, specially this very last three years. Now, after this training period, I fill confident to make my stronger contribution to the governance of our organization. Lots of things changed in my live and also in ECA-EC last six years in the Board of ECA-EC. We are facing one of the most interesting and in some ways challenging situations in our organization (reflex of the critical situation of our world, society and Europe construction) and I think now I m ready to contribute on the development of our organization by the way of the participation, coo-reponsability and horizontal approach that we defined in the ECA-EC strategy. As a former president of the SCIC and the Catalan Umbrella Choral Organization (Moviment Coral Català), board member of the MCC for international cooperation, treasurer of International Music Council and as a director of the Mediterranean Office for Choral Singing I feel the honour, the pleasure and the duty to take part on the ECA- EC board. As you know I m interested to work for: the excellence on children and youth choirs, the social possibilities of choral singing, the articulation of the Regional Centres and the ECA-EC implementation on the Mediterranean Area and at last but not list, the possibilities to make ECA-EC more participated by their members. Thanks for taking in consideration my candidature. Best wishes, Martí Ferrer 1/5

2 I am what I do, and the most part of my activity (as a professional and as a volunteer) and my live (hobbies and other activities) are connected with music and especially with choral life. Choral music makes me what I am and with my involvement in different boards and voluntary tasks, I try, on the one hand, to return to the music what it gave me and on the other hand, to make choral music experience and benefits accessible to others. I would like to put myself and my little talent at ECA-EC s service because I m convinced that ECA-EC can contribute in a decisive way to improve the choral quality of the choral life in Europe and to build the bases of the society for a real European Union. I m also interested in becoming a Board member because I m sure that I can learn lots of things from my board colleagues and also from the experience of taking part on the government of this organization. It will give me a valuable knowledge that afterwards I will have the opportunity to share in my home country. My experience and knowledge as a former president of SCIC (Catalan Childrens Choirs Federation), MCC (Catalan Umbrella Choral Organization) and former member of the Executive Board of the Festival Europa Cantat 2003 in Barcelona; and also my current positions as a director of (MOCS) Mediterranean Office for Choral Singing and treasurer of the International Music Council can be useful at ECA-EC. I think also my background as entrepreneur and manager in musical editorial business and manager of diverse choirs and choral organizations and events in my country can provide my useful knowledge in my board tasks and responsibilities. In addition, I have facility for networking. I love to share my ideas with others in order to improve them and to find cooperation with other projects, people and fields. And finely I m entrepreneur in social field but also in business. I think this is a good quality to be member of the board. I have sung in choirs since I was a child and I have conducted choirs (children, youth and adult choirs) and youth orchestras for more than 15 years. In my opinion, all this background is valuable for my future task in the ECA-EC board. Last 6 years in the Board of ECA-EC I learned lots of things and even I contribute to some of the achievements, specially this very last three years. Now, after this training period, I fill confident to make my stronger contribution to the governance of our organization. 2/5

3 I would like to continue working to develop and test new activities and business models, like I did with Relaxsing Mallorca last year. I would like to continue being the choral voice in the Board of the International Music Council, proposed by ECA-EC. I would like to continue working for the development of the choral live and choral network in the Mediterranean Area as I did the last years through the Mediterranean Office for Choral Singing. But I specially would like to explore in deep new ways to give stability to our organization, and above all to make our organization more horizontal and participated in terms of governance. The fact that choir, individual and family members have, for the first time, the chance to vote remotely is a first step (small, insufficient but very welcome) in this direction. Thanks to my experience as a responsible of ECA-EC Regional Center in Barcelona, I consider that there are new ways to develop the concept of those Regional Centers and the articulation of them within the federation framework. I have some ideas about strategies to transform the federation in a stronger networking centre where every member contributes to create and develop co-participated projects. It s very important to facilitate the development and implementation of cooperation projects between different ECA-EC members through working groups by areas. Thanks to good experiences of cooperation between two or more members of ECA-EC from different countries the cohesion within the federation will be better and will give us a more stronger federation. 3/5

4 is involved in choirs from his childhood. When he was 6 years old he begins to sing in Saba Nova Choir in Girona, some years after became conductor of the same choir. Three years ago, he co-founded A music publisher house and recording label devoted mostly to choral music. He was the former president of and former member of its musical commission. As a president of SCIC he took part on the Executive Board of the Festival Europa Cantat 2003 in Barcelona. From September 2009 to September 2015 he had been president of (the Catalan Umbrella Choral Organization that includes: SCIC, Catalan Children Choirs Federation; FCC, Claverian Choirs Federation; FCPC, Catalan Pueri Cantores Federation; CJC, Catalan Youth Choirs Federation; ACCG, Federation of Choirs of the Province of Girona; and AMMD, Association of Choir Conductors). He is still board member of Moviment Coral Català, responsibleof MOCS, the (Regional Center of the European Choral Association Europa Cantat) and treasurer of. He has conducted several children s, youth and adult choirs and he is frequently invited as a conductor in choir meetings, workshops and participative concerts in Catalunya and abroad. He has been requested as an assistant conductor as well as a conductor in some recordings and adviser for choral and orchestral music editions in publisher houses. He is also the musical producer of some recordings for Naxos and others. From 2013 to 2015 he had been general secretary of GEMC (Catalan Music Publishers Association). Martí Ferrer graduated from Conservatori Superior de Música de Barcelona as orchestra and choir conductor and from Universitat de Girona as a musical pedagogue. He obtained a European studentship to study in Namur (Institute Superieur de Musique et Pedagogie). He speaks Catalan, Spanish, Italian, French and English and loves knowing people and generating and implementing innovative projects. He loves to read books and to listen to music. 4/5
