McNeil/University of Pittsburgh and VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System), involving data processing and analysis. (Oct, 2012 Jan, 2013) Four post-baccalaureate research assistants for Examining inhibition during spoken word production in aphasia (PI Hunting Pompon, dissertation), involving training and overseeing participant screening and experimental sessions, data processing, and intra- and inter-rater reliability activities. (Dec, 2011 May, 2013) Two graduate research assistants for Fragmentation of verbal working memory in aphasia a pilot study (PI Malcolm R. McNeil, University of Pittsburgh and VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System), involving training and overseeing participant screening and experimental sessions. (June, 2009 Dec, 2009) RESEARCH EXPERIENCE Aphasia Lab, Communication Sciences and Disorders, University of Delaware Lab currently being established through the following activities: 1) initiating the Delaware Aphasia Registry and Repository, involving community outreach as well as language, cognition, and psychosocial factor testing of people with post-stroke aphasia; 2) measuring psychosocial factors (chronic stress, depression, anxiety) in people with post-stroke aphasia compared to people without post-stroke aphasia; 3) developing protocol to examine the impact of psychosocial variables on learning in people with aphasia. Aphasia Research Laboratory, Speech & Hearing Sciences, University of Washington Career Development Award 1, VA Rehabilitation Research & Development Grant: Modification and validation of a measure of chronic stress for people with aphasia. VA Career Development Award (IK1RX001934; January 2016 January 2018). This research project was conducted in two phases: 1) modify an existing self-report measure of chronic stress so that it may be maximally understood by people with aphasia, and 2) validate the modified measure with n=75 PWA using biomarker measurement, and explore associations between chronic stress, resilience, depression, and anxiety. Mentorship committee includes Charles Bombardier, Ph.D., Dagmar Amtmann, Ph.D., Diane Kendall, Ph.D., with consultation provided by Kyra Becker, M.D., Margaret Heitkemper, Ph.D., and Stephen Nadeau, M.D. Post-doctoral research (planning stage, Feb, 2014 Aug, 2015): Developing a measure of stress and other psychological constructs for people with aphasia and other cognitive impairments. Background research and planning is currently underway for the development of adapted and validated measures of stress, psychological resilience, depression, and anxiety for people with aphasia and other cognitive impairments. Research Associate: Aphasic comprehension: conflict resolution and short-term memory includes stimuli and experiment development, and management of all local research activities for 40+ participants over four years. This research project is funded by a VA RR&D Merit Review grant awarded to PI Malcolm R. McNeil, VA/Pittsburgh Healthcare System, and includes 160 total participants with aphasia at four sites across the U.S. (Oct, 2013 Sept, 2015) Dissertation: Examining inhibition during spoken word production in aphasia studies selective attention using a Stroop task with a spoken word response with n=20 participants with Rebecca Hunting Pompon Curriculum Vitae August 2017 page 4

5 aphasia compared with n=19 neurologically typical controls. Dissertation funded by NIH/National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (Sponsor: Diane Kendall; Co-Sponsor: Malcolm R. McNeil). Pre-dissertation project: Examining attention and cognitive processing in participants with self-reported mild anomia. This study examined non-linguistic, cognitive function and its potential influence on word retrieval in n=14 individuals with mild anomia and n=9 typical controls. This retrospective data analysis explored the potential relationship between highlevel/mild anomia, attentional and cognitive processing deficits. Sampling of other research experience: Characteristics influencing aphasia treatment response. Data analysis, interpretation, and publication of results for n=26 treatment study, examining the predictive relationship of linguistic (aphasia and anomia severity, linguistic error profile) and non-linguistic (age, time post onset) individual patient characteristics on functional treatment outcomes. Evolution of error type during confrontation naming. Performed data analysis, interpretation, and publication of results for n=30 study of persons with aphasia who participated in phonomotor treatment (PI Kendall). Follow-up to previous n=10 study. Using error type on confrontation naming as an indicator of improved linguistic processing following phonomotor treatment. Managed data analysis project based on n=10 persons with aphasia participating in an intensive phonomotor treatment program (PI Kendall). Created and refined error type coding scheme, coded errors of audio recorded pre-, post- and 3- month-post treatment confrontation naming probes with project team. Performed all data analysis. Fragmentation of verbal working memory in aphasia. Managed one site of pilot study (PI Malcolm R. McNeil, University of Pittsburgh/VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System) on aphasia and working memory, collecting data from n=15 participants with aphasia and n=15 neurotypical controls. This study used the Computerized Revised Token Test-Reading (CRTT-R) with an embedded Stroop color-word task to examine the effects of interference and facilitation in participants with aphasia compared to normal controls, as well as interactions of linguistic complexity and comprehension. Standardized assessment of phonology in aphasia. Ran experimental testing sessions with 14 participants with aphasia in a study which tested the validity and reliability of an assessment for phonology in aphasia (SAPA). As the first measure of its kind, the SAPA assesses clinical change and differentiates phonological function in aphasia. Reorganization of language prior to anterior temporal lobe surgery: Can deficits be mitigated? Conducted eight probe sessions before, during and after treatment with a single subject to establish baseline abilities, acquisition during treatment and retention of learned skills. This pilot study intended to minimize the effects of language impairment after surgical removal of the left anterior temporal horn in an individual with severe epilepsy. Neurogenic Communication Disorders Laboratory, Margaret Rogers, Ph.D., Speech and Hearing Sciences, University of Washington The neural correlates of non-word repetition: Does syllable frequency matter? Completed post-baccalaureate honor research project on the neural aspects non-word production of eleven neurologically typical participants, using fmri data analysis tools. Rebecca Hunting Pompon Curriculum Vitae August 2017 page 5

6 Assisted with processing and analysis of fmri data using MatLab, SPM99 and MarsBaR neuroimaging analysis tool to examine the neural correlates of spoken language.
