2 Introduction You ve indicated that hearing better on your cell phone and/or while watching TV are important to you. Based on this information, and your hearing test results, I am recommending Phonak Brio 3 R-C hearing aids. They connect to any cell phone for hands-free phone calls, and with an adapter they will stream the TV sound right into your hearing aids automatically. Let s program these devices to your hearing test results so you can experience Brio 3 R-C for yourself! What Do I Need? 2 Brio 3 R-C hearing instruments Bluetooth-enabled cell phone Computer with Phonak Target fitting software Noahlink Wireless TV Connector Audio source (TV, computer, stereo)

3 Setup 1 Program the HI with the member s audiogram. 2 Default phone ear is set to the right side, this can easily be changed by clicking this icon ( ). 3 In [Device Options], consider changing the HI name to the member s name for easy identification. 4 Save and close; HI will reboot automatically. Automatic Program What makes Brio 3 R-C so special is a unique operating system called Automatic. It senses your surroundings and adjusts your hearing aids every step of the way. Just turn them on and the rest is automatic. This means that when you leave the office and go across the street to a restaurant for lunch, the hearing aids will automatically sense an increase in background noise the other diners conversations, clinking of silverware, echoes and reverberations. The hearing aids will automatically adjust their settings to reduce these sounds and focus more on the conversation at your table.

4 Hands-Free Phone Call The great thing about Brio 3 R-C is you can be completely hands-free while talking on the phone. Your phone can remain in your pocket or purse; the microphones on the hearing aid will pick up your voice so the person on the other end can hear you clearly. 1 First let s connect the device to your cell phone. 6 Have them answer the call with a short press of the HI button. 2 3 Close the battery door to put the HI in pairing mode. Open the Bluetooth menu on the phone and search for a new device. 7 How does the call sound? Pretty clear in this quiet office, right? Now if you were in a noisy place, you might want to have more volume. If you press the right hearing aid button, you ll hear the other person much more clearly, and less of the sounds around you. You can do the same thing with the volume buttons on the side of your phone. 4 5 Select the member s name or [R-Hearing Aid]. Audible connection confirmation beeps are heard in the hearing instrument. Now let s try it out! Do you have a friend or loved one who you could call? Or if you prefer, I ll have someone call you from the other room. Have the member push the R button to increase the phone call signal, and the L button to decrease. Alternatively, they can use the Volume Up/Down buttons on their cell phone. How did the call sound to you? Were you able to understand them clearly? Was it nice to not have to hold the phone up to your mouth? Imagine all the things you can do while talking on the phone! Place a phone call to the member from another room or have them call a loved one.

5 TV Listening Initial setup to a TV or computer in your office: 1 Insert the power cable into a USB or power supply. 2 Insert the audio cable (Optical or Analog) into the TOSLink or Headphone Audio Out jack. With Brio 3 R-C, TV listening is easy and automatic, just like it should be. All you ll need is this black connector that plugs into the back of your TV.

6 TV Listening (continued) 3 Make sure the hearing aids are on and within 3 feet of the TV Connector. Press the button on the back of the TV Connector. Audible connection confirmation beeps are heard in the hearing instruments. 4 Allow the member to experience the TV sound in stereo quality. How does the TV sound to you? You re hearing the sound in both ears, in stereo. If you want more/less volume, you can use the buttons just like we did with the phone call. You can even get up and walk around, walk into the kitchen for a glass of water, and the sound will stay with you. Any time you are in range (about 50 feet), you will automatically be reconnected without having to push any buttons. You can watch over 80 hours of TV before needing a new hearing aid battery! 5 Let the member adjust the volume and walk around the room/office. Earlier you mentioned you would like to hear better on the phone and/or the TV. Now that you ve been able to experience the sound quality of the hearing aids, in the normal Automatic program as well as through your cell phone and TV, what do you think?
