2 THE IDENTITY OF A YOUNG DEAF CHILD July 2017 Prašník Dúbrava, SLOVAKIA EUROPEAN UNION OF THE DEAF YOUTH (EUDY) The European Union of the Deaf Youth is a European non-profit organisation whose membership comprises of the Youth National Associations of the Deaf and Youth Sections of National Associations of Deaf people in Europe. Established in 1987, EUDY is the only organisation representing the interests of Deaf Young Europeans in Europe. Currently, EUDY has 28 Full members, from Iceland to Romania, and from Spain to Finland. EUDY strives to foster the personal development of young deaf persons with a sign language in Europe and to further mutual understanding to advance and protect the rights of and opportunities for young deaf Europeans. SLOVENSKÁ ASOCIÁCIA KLUB MLADÝCH NEPOČUJÚCH (SAKMN) - SLOVAKIA ASSOCIATION CLUB OF THE DEAF YOUTH (SACDY) SACDY is engaged in various activities of deaf children and young people, developing education, support and deals with the deaf community, deaf solves the problems in their lives and removes communication barriers. Part of the work is also organizing lectures in the field of deaf community World Youth, and also participates in various international activities of deaf people at home and abroad. The main objective of our organization is to maintain a culture of deaf education and raising the level of ordinary people. Represents, protects the rights and interests of deaf youth in Slovakia. PARTICIPANTS Participants must be between 9 and 12 years old, following the birth year. This mean a 8- years old or a 13-years old person may participate in the Children Camp, if they are turning 9 or turned 13 in the year of the camp. LEADERS Leaders must be between 21 and 30 years old, following the birth year. Leaders should be fluent in International Sign and have previous experience working at camps and/or working with children. Please refer to the attached document for registration. Contact your Deaf Youth National Association to complete your registration.
3 ANNOUNCEMENT 1st LEADER MEETING From EUDY got a EU project focused on leaders meeting which is based on to improve the preparation of the camp and communication between leaders from each country and OC team. According this project was approved and we want to convene 1st MEETING only for leaders (no children participants). This meeting will be convened June (date soon we will inform you ) The location will be celebrated in the camp, Prasnik-Dubrava, Slovakia. Likewise, the transport and accommodation will be covered by the project. Requirements to attend: Must be Deaf. Should be 21 years old or older. 2 leaders for each country Gender parity Must, at a minimum, be fluent in one of the sign languages of the sending organisation s country Should be able to work in an international team with leaders from other countries Are primarily responsible for their campers, but will also participate in overall camp activities, under direction of the COC. Please refill the LEADER registration form and send before March 31th. Please complete the consigment procedure. Anything you need do not hesitate to contact us.
4 THEME AND LOGO EXPLICATION OF THEME The EUDY Children Camp 2017 s theme is The identity of a young deaf child. The aim of this camp is to unleash to children to have higher self-esteem, to realize they are able to do and to know overcome their identity. The campers will build their knowledge during camp exchanging different cultures and traditions within the Deaf Community, analysing their behaviors, traditions, cultures and norms. Then they will bring to home their gratifying experiences and knowledges such as International Sign Language, new friends, and it will enhance solidarity towards others. Awareness and respect of our essential identity understanding of how to integrate each other in different countries. EXPLICATION OF LOGO The EUDY Children camp 2017 Logo reflects the theme and location of the camp. According the logo, the camp location is represented by a well-known Slovakian symbol: the Slovak folks heroes against feudal oppression held up with Janosik which rebels our human rights, justice by people and freedom. And also those children show the gender equality. Above two children folks is surrounded by EU stars.
5 LOCATION Prašník Dúbrava pri Pieštanoch, Trnavský kraj, Slovensko / Prasnik Drubava near Piestany, Trnava region, Slovakia The EUDY Children Camp 2017 will take place from 8-15 July 2017 at Prasnik in Dubrava, Slovakia. The camp is located on a top of a mountain with breathtaking panoramic views overlooking the town of Prasnik. The venue is located 17 km from the spa town of Piestany in the village of Prasnik (direction Brezová pod Bradlom). The unit is specialized in organizing "schools in nature" and summer camps. The camp will provide food and lodging for the entire duration of the camp. There is also a swimming pool and access to outdoor team-building activities on site.
6 VISA INFORMATION Member countries of EUDY that NEED a visa for Slovakia Albania * Belarus Bosnia and Herzegovina * Geogria Kosovo Montenegro * Macedonia * Moldova * Russian Federation Serbia * Ukraine Member countries of EUDY that DO NOT NEED a visa for Slovakia EU countries Iceland Lichtenstein Norway Switzerland Turkey United Kingdom * Participants from those countries must have the BIOMETRIC PASSPORT VISA REGRSTATION (two options) : Electronic version : Paper version : VACCINATIONS For Slovakia, there are no required vaccinations. However, it is encouraged to stay current on routine shots (MMR and DPT vaccinations, poliovirus vaccine, Heptatits A & B, etc). ALCOHOL AND DRUG POLICY Consumption of alcohol and drugs is absolutely prohibited for the entire duration of the Children Camp. Any participant under the age of 18 is NOT permitted to smoke. Also if you have permission from your parents, you cannot smoke. Medicine prescribed by the doctor is allowed if you bring a doctor s note with an explanation. Parental permission is required for bringing or buying over-the-counter medicine.
7 HEALTH INSURANCE / MEDICAL FORM Each participant is expected to provide some kind of health coverage for the duration of the camp. Participants will be asked to explain about their medical needs on the registration form. Campers have the freedom not to reveal anything about their medical needs, but EUDY and the Organising Committee will not be responsible in any way should something happen. TRAVEL INFORMATION Please read the travel information below carefully. ARRIVAL on 08th July : We have arranged a bus to drive us from the Bratislava airport (airport code: BTS) to Prasnik-Dubrava. The bus will leave at 17:00h, so it is very important that your flight arrives before 16:00h. DEPARTURE on 15th July : A bus will take us back from Prasnik-Dubrava to the Bratislava airport. We will arrive by 11:30h, so please make sure to schedule your flight back home after 13:00h. Therefore, there are other posibilities to find cheaper flight tickets or troubles with schedules, for instance, you can arrive to Vienna airport, Austria (airport code: VIE) then take a bus to Bratislava airport or to Bratislava Most SNP (bus station). We will pick you up there. To remember you have to come in Bratislava before 17:00h.
