Birth: 25 October 1875 Biggsville Ill [some records state Burlington, Iowa] Death: 5 Feb Gooding, Idaho Buried: Elmwood Cemetery Gooding, Idaho Family of Origin: Father : David Mc Dill (born about 1832 in Ohio, died 1891) was a physician and Mother: Mary A Wonell (born about 1840 in NJ, died in 1908) Siblings: She had 2 older brothers David b. 1861; Joseph b. 1872), 2 older sisters (Mary b. 1866, Jennie b. 1864) and at least one younger sibling (Mabel b. 1879). Family moved to Burlington, Iowa ( 1880/1885). There may have been two other older siblings who died early in live (Harry b and Mathilda b. 1870) Became Deaf/partially Deaf at 3 ½ from scarlet fever She had a cousin, Dr. Joseph Gordon who taught at Gallaudet and was Superintendent at the Illinois School for the Deaf.

Her husband, Elmer Ellsworth Bates born May 22, 1860 in Madison, OH, died Feb 18, 1930 and was buried in the Middle Ridge Cemetery, Madison Township, Ohio. Elmer was a Cleveland sports writer; an original member of the Baseball Writers Association of America; a Cleveland correspondent for the Sporting Life as early as He wrote "The Little Old Man" column in the Cleveland Press.
