Introducing Clinpro % Sodium Fluoride Anti-Cavity Toothpaste News Developed with expertise of dental industry leaders, 3M ESPE Clinpro % Sodium Fluoride Anti-Cavity Toothpaste (Clinpro Tooth Crème 0.21% w/w Sodium Fluoride Anti- Cavity Paste with Tri-Calcium Phosphate) is an advanced prescription formula containing an innovative tri-calcium phosphate ingredient launching on January 15, A nonprescription version of the formula, Clinpro Tooth Crème, will be released internationally beginning February Both products are examples of 3M ESPE s commitment to creating and launching new products that target the specific needs of the market. Prevention is a key concern of both patients and dentists, and 3M ESPE is continually working on new solutions to promote oral health. Breakthrough Formulas These formulas represent a major breakthrough in anti-cavity toothpaste technology. Clinpro 5000 toothpaste contains fluoride as well as calcium and phosphate, which are components naturally found in saliva. During the manufacturing process, a protective barrier is created around the calcium allowing it to coexist with the fluoride ions. As the toothpaste comes in contact with saliva during brushing, the barrier breaks down and makes the calcium, phosphate and fluoride readily available to the tooth. This process is very similar to the highly successful business model labs have used for years to outsource their 3M ESPE Lava Copings to an Authorized Lava Milling Center. Additionally, with the release of 3M ESPE Lava Software 1.5 for Chairside Oral Scanner, the system is now indicated for single unit crowns, multiple adjacent units, inlay/onlays and three- or four-unit bridges. New Regions Offer New Opportunities 3M ESPE continues the launch of the Lava C.O.S. by expanding into the Mid-Atlantic, Southern Florida and Texas regions. These regions will complement existing operations in the Northeast, Upper Midwest, Pacific Northwest and Southern California regions. Additionally, Henry Schein, Burkhart Dental and Benco Dental are the first distributors of the device, and are responsible for installing, maintaining and servicing the Lava C.O.S. for dentists. 3M ESPE will continue discussions with additional qualified distributors as part of the non-exclusive distribution arrangement for the Lava C.O.S. 2

This system supports our light dusting protocol by providing an even distribution of powder and enabling you to control the flow using the sprayer s trigger. Vanish XT Extended Contact Varnish Will Debut in 2009 News 3M ESPE is excited to announce the upcoming introduction of Vanish XT Extended Contact Varnish. Scheduled to become available in 2009, Vanish XT varnish is a site-specific, durable coating that forms an immediate layer of protection to relieve hypersensitivity without the need for isolation of the preparation. It releases fluoride, calcium and phosphate and the coating provides long-term protection against acid challenges. Dentin Permeability Occluding dentinal tubules in-office provides immediate relief from pain associated with the movement of fluid through open tubules. Laboratory studies demonstrate Vanish XT varnish penetrates dentin tubules and reduces dentin permeability by 88 percent. 5 Two 3M ESPE Restorative Products Receive Top Ratings from The Dental Advisor Clinical Study Both 3M ESPE Z100 and 3M ESPE Filtek Z250 Universal Restorative have received excellent (+++++) clinical ratings from The Dental Advisor, the highest rating the publication gives. The Dental Advisor ratings are based on the following clinical categories: resistance to fracture, esthetics, wear resistance and resistance to marginal discoloration. 3M ESPE Z100 restorative is an all-purpose, light-cured composite with zirconia filler particles. In the study, it was reviewed at 15 years and given a 96 percent clinical rating. Almost 130 restorations placed in were recalled. After 15 years, more than 80 percent of the restorations showed no fractures or chipping. Less than 20 percent showed some minor chipping, but none of the restorations had required replacement. For this study, more than 560 restorations were recalled and reviewed at nine years. Results showed that almost 95 percent of restorations recalled showed no chips or fractures. In addition, 98 percent were rated very good to excellent for esthetics; restorations remained smooth with stable color. Nearly 90 percent of the restorations showed no marginal discoloration at recall. 6 Espertise Experts News Source Product Information For more information please go to Launch of Pentamix 3 Automatic Mixing Unit Exceeds Expectations Results The recent launch of the 3M ESPE Pentamix 3 Automatic Mixing Unit was extremely successful. With the input and participation of dental industry leaders in the development of the Pentamix 3 unit, 3M ESPE developed a tool that truly meets the needs of practitioners. [fig. 5] High Ratings from Users In an evaluation which began last spring, Pentamix 3 units and surveys were sent to dental opinion leaders around the world. One hundred and eight questionaires were returned by October. In terms of overall satisfaction, the surveys showed that 93 percent of respondents found the Pentamix 3 better or much better than current mixing procedures. One hundred percent of respondents would recommend this device, and 99 percent would recommend the 3M ESPE impression materials used with the Pentamix 3 unit. fig. 5 The 3M ESPE Pentamix 3 Automatic Mixing Unit takes up less space and offers clinicians more usable working time with their impression material than other available mixers.
