1 CEREC Implants Acquisition Phase Upon first entering the acquisition phase, the screen will appear as seen below. Note that for the Biogeneric design mode, (the most commonly used for implants) three catalogs automatically appear at bottom of the screen. If you have chosen the BioCopy design mode the appropriate BioCopy catalog will also appear on the screen automatically. Required imaging catalogs appear with an! in the catalog. Updated:

2 For implants, it is always recommended to add a catalog for the gingiva mask. To do so, use the following steps. 1. Click on Add Catalog on the right side of the screen. 2. Click on the appropriate GingivaMask catalog (This example is for GingivaMask Upper) 3. The chosen catalog appears along the bottom of the screen. Now begin by imaging the gingiva mask folder. The gingiva mask is imaged without the scanpost or tibase in place as seen below. ****Some users like to use a technique where they copy the gingiva mask scan into the corresponding jaw catalog and then simply add to that scan with the scan post in place. Sirona advises against this and recommends that the jaw scan be taken as a completely new scan. See document 4 on FAQ for more information on this topic.**** Updated:

3 Users wishing to continue with Sirona s recommended workflow, continue reading below. The opposing jaw and buccal bite scans can be taken at any time. The scanpost or tibase does not need to be in the jaw when imaging either catalog. Image the implant jaw catalog with the scanpost or tibase in place. scanpost is the only device approved by the FDA for imaging intraorally tibase should only be used if scanning on a model If the user chooses to use a tibase for intra oral scanning the selection in the administration phase of the software should reflect this. However, this has not been approved by the FDA, the outcome will be uncertain, and limited support will be available. Updated:

4 The software will try to automatically correlate the Jaw and GingivaMask catalogs. If able to do so, a green box with check mark will appear on the gingiva catalog. If a red box with an! appears on the Gingiva mask catalog this indicates the program was not able to auto-correlate. The user can try adjusting the images, or move onto the next phase and do a manual correlation. (See FAQ for information on manually correlating.) If the scans include any extra data, (examples: tongue, cheek, lip, excessive tissue, finger, cotton roll, etc.) it is ALWAYS advisable to remove this data. Extra data will negatively affect the model and final proposal. Some possible outcomes of having undesirable data include: Failure of the software to calculate the model Artifacts on the final model Slow processing times System errors General error messages General slowness Poor proposal Edit tools do not work on the proposal or are slow to respond Errors during milling (including defective bur errors, data errors, etc.) Updated:

5 To remove extra data in the acquisition phase: 1. Click on the tool wheel. 2. Select Cut. 3. Make a circle around data you want to remove. a. Double click to start the cut; single click to tack the line down. Loop the cut line back to the starting point. Double click to end. (Works similar to the margin and trim lines) 4. Click Apply on the tool box. a. Once a cut is applied there is not a way to get that information back, so use the tool carefully. b. If pertinent information is cut out by accident when using the cut tool, rescan that spot to fill in the offending area. Updated:

6 Please keep in mind that the software does not have the ability to differentiate between good data and less ideal data. The software can only use all the data it has. As such, everything the software does after acquisition is a reaction to the data that has been captured. This is why it is so important to clean out bad or unnecessary data from the scans. Updated:
