1 Connecticut Mission of Mercy Free Dental Clinic April 25-26, 2014 XL Center CTMOM 2014 Clinic Summary On April 25-26, 2014 the Connecticut Foundation for Dental Outreach held it s 7th Connecticut Mission of Mercy Free Dental Clinic (CTMOM) at the XL Center in Hartford. The XL Center Exhibit Hall was transformed into a large-scale dental clinic equipped with 126 dental chairs, medical & dental triage, restorative, pedodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, prosthetics, hygiene and sterilization departments working together to see as many patients as possible during the 2 days of the clinic. The clinic was staffed with over 1,500 Medical, Dental and Community volunteers who graciously gave their time, talent and expertise to provide care to 2,295 patients. CTMOM is a first-come, first-served clinic and services are provided free of charge to the underserved and uninsured citizens of CT. Community Volunteers Total CTMOM Steering Committee: Dental Professionals 23 Community Volunteers Hundreds of patients waited many hours in line until the doors opened at 6:00 a.m. Our first patients in line were twins senior citizens, from Hartford, CT. They arrived at 7:20 a.m. on Thursday, nearly 24 hours before the clinic doors opened. Our first patients in line (above)

3 Exhibitors, Partners & Services Access Health CT provided information regarding the new healthcare system. American Medical Response provided EMTs and ambulances both days of the clinic. American Red Cross distributed coffee & snacks to patients while they waited in line. AmeriCorps members of AmeriCorps NCCC-Atlantic Region, Perry Point, MD provided assistance for clinic set-up, clinic treatment days and clinic break down. Community Health Center Association of CT provided information regarding low cost dental & medical care. Community Health Centers, Inc. provided information regarding low cost dental & medical care. CT Dental Health Partnership provided oral healthcare products for all CTMOM patients. CT Health Foundation Fellows Partnership helped organize and promote the pregnancy portion of the clinic. CT State Dental Association member dentists /hygienists/dental assistants/dental administrators volunteered their services. Department of Social Services provided pre-qualification screening for government funded assistance. Dunkin Donuts provided coffee and snacks to volunteers while they waited in line both days of the clinic. The Connecticut Chapter of the American Massage Therapy Association provided free massages to all of our volunteers. Media Partners WFSB 3 promoted the event and provided a toll free clinic information telephone number during the weeks leading up to the event WYBC promoted the event and provided music on the clinic floor. Rock promoted the event and the Raven in the Morning show broadcasted live from the clinic.
