1 Course Title: Advanced Physical Education: Concepts of Fitness, Strength, and Conditioning Content Area: Health and Physical Education Grade Level(s): Course Description: This course will be offered as an elective in addition to a student s required physical education class. CFSC will offer an in-depth opportunity for students to learn about various fitness, strength, and conditioning concepts. The two primary goals of CFSC are: for students to learn the necessary information and skills needed to improve their individual fitness levels on their own without the assistance of trainers, memberships, and athletic programs; and to improve the five components of their personal fitness. This will be achieved by learning about current and up-to-date concepts while giving students the opportunity to improve their health and fitness during various routines in class. The course will utilize the fitness center, gymnasiums, various fields, the track, and more. CFSC will not be limited to the fitness center, as students will spend time learning in the classroom as well. The course is suitable for those who are new to fitness and are anxious to learn about it, in season and out of season athletes, and/or anyone who wants to improve his or her health and wellness during the school day. Students interested in taking the course must have a good standing in previous PE classes (>91 average) and a recommendation from their previous PE classes.
