7 Clothing: Shrewsbury Borough School Middle School 1. Sneakers and socks are required. 2. Each student should dress appropriately for Class. 3. All clothing should allow for freedom of movement. 4. Sweatshirts or short jackets are suggested for outside P.E. classes on chilly days. NO JEWELRY SHOULD BE WORN DURING PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLASS. Jewelry includes earrings (hoops), rings, necklaces, bracelets, and watches. Students should plan ahead by not wearing jewelry on days. NO GUM CHEWING IS PERMITTED IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLASS. EXEMPTIONS FROM PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLASS: 1. A medical excuse from the student s doctor is required stating that the student is unable to participate in class for an extended period of time. 2. If a student needs to be excused from class on one particular day, a note from the student s parent or guardian is required. A STUDENT S PHYSICAL EDUCATION GRADE IS BASED ON: 1. Being dressed properly for each class. 2. Active participation in each class during both the warm-ups and class activities. 3. Student attitude, behavior, and cooperation are considered in the student s grade. 4. Point System: 3 points will be deducted each time for the following: Unprepared for class Inappropriate behavior Lack of class participation
