Background and Goals On 4 May 2017 all four employee networks; GenERAtions, Origins, Pride and WomenWork plus the Disability and Inclusion Taskforces held a joint conference. The Inclusion Conference replaced the annual WomenWork conference, it s a more accurate representation of the diversity of our employee population as well as our stance on diversity and inclusion as a company. The conference aimed to educate and inspire our Sodexo employees about the diversity and inclusion agenda in alignment with our strategic imperative to drive employee engagement and a culture of inclusion
2017 Inclusion Conference Highlights 6 Breakout Sessions 250 Participants 4 Employee Networks I was concerned that I would struggle to justify taking time away from work for it. I was really very wrong. I met people and had the benefit of listening to their opinions and thoughts, I learnt lots but what I take away most is that feeling that on the whole, I work with people who care about people - and not because it benefits their careers or their pockets or it looks cool/trendy - but because it's who they are. We talk about employee engagement a lot - knowing that sense of integrity exists in my workplace is possibly the best way you could engage me. Thank you.! 6 External Speakers 78,385 total Twitter impressions
Registration If you were a member of: D&I Team, RLC, D&I Council, committee member or co-chair of the four employee network committees or two taskforces,, you were guaranteed a place and were sent an outlook invitation to the conference. The rest of the tickets (at first 140, increasing to around 160) were put onto General admission on Eventbrite. Communications on how to register your interest were send out via: The Weekly Brief, Sodexo Net, Your Sodexo, Twitter and Facebook and the four groupspace accounts from the employee networks. Delegates were selected to attend the day based on segment / function in the first instance.

Delegate Feedback 95% of respondents rated the day as good or excellent 78% felt better informed about Sodexo s approach to D&I It was a superb conference with great motivational speakers. I think the investment will be repaid in abundance! The whole day was inspiring and everyone I spoke with was impressed. I don't attend many conferences and I was worried that this might end up as a nice, but essentially 'nothing new' type of day. In essence I was concerned that I would struggle to justify taking time away from work for it. Thank you.!

Keynote Speakers Kim Healey Head of HR, Everton Rachael Jones HR People Manager / D&I Lead, Everton
Keynote Speakers This man is inspiring!!! Sodexo need to record his story and use it as a H&S moment across the business. (..) it was thought provoking, honest, in parts very humorous but a really powerful message. All of my colleague who attended we're equally as inspired by James and we've re-told his story many times since as a reason why H&S is so important! Wow, wow, wow!
Break out Sessions Annie is a truly inspirational woman. She has all the qualities of a true leader. She was a refreshing change to the over-rehearsed speakers one usually hear A really inspiration speaker, would definitely want to see her again and would want my granddaughter to get the chance to hear her speak and no anything is achievable.
Break out Sessions Workshop challenged conscious and unconscious bias, stimulating useful discussion among attendees.
Break out Sessions Some apps were useful and got some good ideas. It was interesting to find out about apps that I had never heard of before and how I could use them.
Break out Sessions Leng was amazing. The way he explained his journey has made me look at the trans population differently in a more positive way. I feel I can now actively support my trans colleagues.
Break out Sessions Steve Walter was Excellent! again passionate and wanting to share history to help others.. The Speaker Steve was very good he had some really good ideas to get people interacting with him & asking questions, again a very personal account & really helpful, I will find this really helpful as I come across mental health issues in my personal & working life in the future.
Break out Sessions
Panel event - The Network Debate Cherron: I was honoured to facilitate the staff network panel discussion at Sodexo s first diversity and inclusion conference. The atmosphere was fantastic! Sodexo clearly understands that investing in the talent of its staff networks and recognising those leading them, helps to create a real community of inclusion for all employees. Sodexo is doing this and hopefully other organisations will learn from their passion for inclusion
