If you are an AAMFT Approved Supervisor in good standing, you must complete a one hour, board-approved, CE training on KY Law. This workshop satisfies that requirement. If you are not an AAMFT-approved supervisor, but have been licensed at least five years, and you have completed a board approved supervision course (six-hour course), you must complete two hours of CE training in supervision and KY Law. If you take both this training and the Saturday training in Supervision, this requirement will be met. On-Site 9:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. Wade Rowatt Spirituality and Health: A Workshop on Faith Issues and Therapy Therapeutic counseling involves the combined acts of support and/or confrontation during developmental or emergency crises. Faith can be a factor in both support and confrontation. Trauma is an event producing severe mental, relational, emotional, and systemic distress. It can be a matter of life perspective, personal constancy, and systemic homeostasis. Faith may be a factor in all three. Traumatic life experiences shatter, smash, wreck, and possibly collapses a person s life perspective, personal constancy, and systemic homeostasis. Their entire religious belief system may come into question or it may call their core being into question. Disturbance in the core being and private doctrine may introduce skepticism, uncertainty, and doubts. When trauma introduces new questions, a state of religious disequilibrium arises that threatens each of the other three. A caring, patient, and informed therapist or counselor may shepherd trauma victims through this period of disequilibrium and into reorganization of all three. Fresh faith foundations and innovative images of self may be woven into a healing stance toward personal life, personal stability and future homeostasis. The past ceases to dominate the focus of concerns and moving forward with a positive growth. Positive Psychology offers researched based resources for therapists. We will enumerate several of these resources. Wade Rowatt, Ph.D. has served as the Director of the St. Matthews Pastoral Counseling Center in Louisvillle, KY from 1995 to 2009 and professor at Southern Baptist Seminary, University of Louisville, McMaster Divinity College and the Baptist Seminary of Kentucky. Dr. Rowatt is a Diplomate in the American Association of Pastoral Counselors (AAPC), a Supervisor in the Association For Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE), and a Clinical Member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Counselors (AAMFT). On-Site 1:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M. John Lentz Utilizing Spirituality in Systemic Therapy This workshop demonstrates how to utilize a person s or a family s spirituality in ways that enhance their relationships and give meaning, value and purpose to what they are doing to improve their overall relationships and overcome family oriented problems and achieve more health and happiness. It offers definitions, and ways of enhancing spirituality without challenging religious traditions. In fact, it shows how many of the world s best therapists use spirituality to enhance their work, and their use of self as a therapist. It especially offers indirect methods of enhancing spirituality, health and positive relationships. The workshop is derived from the author s use of Erickson s work and Erickson s primary areas of intervention. John Lentz, D.Min. is the Director of the Milton Erickson Institute of Jeffersonville Indiana and is a retired chaplain from the KY Correctional Institute for Women. Since 2003, he also serves as the Pastor of the Radcliff, KY Presbyterian church. John is an AAMFT Clinical Fellow and Approved Supervisor, a member of the American Society for Clinical Hypnosis, and the American Association for Pastoral Counselors. John presents across the globe on topics related to Ericksonian hypnosis and therapy. On-Site
