2 NARCH: Specific Aims 1. Develop lasting partnerships between the Healing Lodge, the Division on Addiction, and the Seven Nations through Tribal Participatory Research (TPR) methods. 2. Increase capacity by training and involving local native college students as Student Researchers. 3. Assess and summarize key informants perceptions of available and potential postrecovery support systems within each of seven tribal nations.

Conduct strengths and needs assessments in each participating tribe What strengths does your community have when it comes to supporting adolescents returning from treatment for substance use disorder? What are your community s weaknesses when it comes to supporting these kids? 2. Conduct strengths and needs assessments among HL youth 3. Disseminate and discuss findings within each tribal nation.

11 Executable Action Plan Coordinate youth A & D services within and across districts: a. Develop a 24/7 youth facility, with case managers, for intervention and recovery in each district (everyone welcome, multiple levels of care) b. Provide a coordinator who works with these district-level facilities and case managers to coordinate resources available and coordinate follow-up services across districts

12 Top Youth Responses In creating their action plans, youth participants identified strategies their communities could use to help them avoid relapse. These included: Youth indicated a need for positive sober activities, particularly sporting opportunities. Using sports and music to help them develop greater connection to sober activities and support systems. The youth indicated the importance of developing new friendships with more positive and sober individuals. It was clear that family support is the most desired support; however, it was important for the family to be sober.
