1 Cross Gates & District Good Neighbours Scheme CIO Working with and for older people Celebrating 15 years Annual Report
2 2018 Calendar A word from Bill... Timeline Our 15th anniversary year is a record breaker! For the first time we have a membership of more than a thousand - 1,029 as we go to press! For the first time we have more than 100 volunteers -104 is the latest figure! For the first time we are offering a monthly advice service at Whitkirk Silver Lining Club. Thanks to the sterling efforts of our magnificent staff, so very ably led by Jo, we have also seen a sizeable improvement in financial support from local partners. This has helped improve and expand services for our members. It has also enabled us to maintain and develop our staffing levels. Your Trustees were pleased to be able to offer Charley a further contract and together with Claire, Janet, Dee, Gayle, Kathie and Jane, they are helping us to enhance levels of service across the board. Thanks then to all our staff, to all our funders, to all our volunteers and to all of our members for your loyal support. We look forward with confidence to another record breaking year in Bill Hyde Chair Established in Crossgates Library with flask and a tin of biscuits! 2004 Official opening of main office at the Newman Centre 2008 Big Lottery Funding Scan me to visit website 2002 First paid worker 2005 Living History Project funded by Awards for All - social history and intergenerational project 2012
3 ...and thank you from the Treasurer Where did the last fifteen years go? Looking back we have grown from strength to strength, from an information table in Crossgates Library with a flask and packet of biscuits to renting our own premises, over 1,000 members, 104 volunteers, eight staff and ten Trustees. Working together is one of the main reasons our scheme continues to grow and flourish making Cross Gates a great place to grow old in whilst having fun and extra support. The other is the continued support from Leeds City Council, Leeds Older People s Forum Time to Shine project and other local partners. Over the years you have bought bricks to build the office extension, fundraised and donated to the 100 Club to purchase our minibus and keep it running. Donated money, gifts, teabags and time the list is endless. In the last year alone you gave an amazing 76,020 to the scheme including donations ( 8,910), Fundraising ( 3,653) and Group income ( 53,300). A big thank you to you our members for your continuing support.
