(5) 12-Step Self Reflection Papers, 20 pts each: Number and answer each of the 5 question listed below for each paper. Attend any 12-Step meeting of your choice. You may attend the same meeting in the same location for a total of 5 times, or the same type of meeting in different locations for a total of 5 times, or different types of meetings in different locations for a total of 5 times. Google meeting dates, places, and types of meetings. A maximum of one of the five meetings may be done online, but you can elect to have none of your meetings on line. Research indicates that online meetings are not as effective of a treatment modality for someone in early stages of dealing with addiction or co-dependency. However, attending one online meeting will give you some insight into using that resource or give you an opportunity to complete the assignment due to inclement weather or if you are home sick. I would save the online choice in case you encountered any of these problems. NOTE: Closed meetings indicate that only people who identify with that particular problem are invited, i.e. a Closed AA meeting indicates that you must identify as an Alcoholic to attend that meeting. Alateen meetings are always Closed Meetings. Unless a meeting indicates Closed it should be open to everyone. There are many types of 12-Step programs for addicts

3 such as AA, NA, OA, GA, etc and 12-Step Alanon/Alateen/FA-Families Anonymous programs for family and friends affected by others addictions. NOTE: The Monday night 7:45p meeting of FA at The Ridge in Lexington is my home group and I am requesting that you take it off your list of possible meetings to attend. See suggestions in Course Documents on how to approach and what to do while attending a 12 Step meeting. Read the guidelines in Course Documents prior to attending your first 12 Step meeting. Answer the following questions for each 12 Step Self Reflection Paper. NOTE:There is no minimum word count but you must adequately answer all questions below. 1. What type of 12-Step meeting did you attend? 2. What was the location, date and time of the meeting? 3. Why did you choose this meeting? 4. Which of the 12 Steps do you think most pertains to your life at this time? 5. Which 12 Step(s) do you think might relate to what was discussed at the meeting? 6. Q99-100, it s assumed that you know the standard of care for treatment and the philosophies about behavioral v. chemical addiction when you offer your comments. It is strongly suggested that you work one or two weeks ahead of schedule to avoid penalties for late papers.
