5 emily S STORY I d being getting pains in my chest for a few weeks. I was terrified and not sleeping or going out. Finally I told Ronnie. Off we went to the GP and she arranged an appointment at The Royal to have an MRI scan. I could tell Ronnie was scared too, but he was trying to keep our chins up. Hey sweetheart, he said after looking up MRI Scan on Google. It says an MFI Scanner helps find money down the back of your sofa. Bless him. Anyway he looked after me until the day of The Royal Visit as he called it. I was expecting this machine from Star Trek. I was very scared but the nurse who met us was brilliant. She said an MRI scan was the state-ofthe-art way of finding out the cause of the pains and deciding the best treatment for me. She was so reassuring. The Radiographer explained it used magnetic fields and radio waves - and Ron asked if he d be able to use me to pick up the footy on Radio Merseyside So I lay down and the scan began. I could talk to the team all the time and it helped me relax. They found a heart problem. I started a course of treatment and medication and even had the scan again to check progress. It was much less scary the second time. I m much better now, thanks to the Radiography team at the Royal. I ve even started dancing again! And Ron? - still using his radio to hear his footy.
