A: Photosynthesis is the process by which green plants containing chlorophyll, produce food substances (glucose & starch) from CO 2 and water by using light as source of energy. light 6CO H 2 O - C 6 H 12 O H 2 O + 6 O 2 chlorophyll 2. What is emulsification? A: Fats are digested by converting them into small globule like forms by the help of the bile juice secreted from liver. This process is called "emulsification". 3. A: When the lungs inhaled the air they can expand and exhaled the air they contraction. The lungs has elastic movements. In the lungs the gaseous exchange alveoli to capillaries through diffusion is a wonderful phenomena. 5. The chemical Janus green B is used to identify? They can filter the blood in Bowmans capsule and reobsorb the useful substances in tubule. If one Kidney failure then another kidney expand in size and take the function anothers. 13. How can you say carbohydrates are not digested in the stomach? A: The gastric juice produced by stomach donot contain the enzyme "ptyalin" or "amylase". It contains only Renin, lepase, pepsin. Hence carbohydrates are not digested in the stomach. SECTION III 14. what is malnutrition? Explain some nutrition deficiency diseases. A: Eating of food that does not have one or more than one nutrients in required amount is know as malnutrition. kwashiorkor disease: This is due to protein deficiency in diet. Body Parts become swollen due to accumulation of water in the inter cellular spaces. Very poor muscle development, swollen legs, fluffy face, difficult to eat, diarrhoea, dry skin are the symptoms. Marasmus: This is due to deficiency of both proteins and calories. Generally this disease occurs when there is an immediate second pregnancy or repeated child births. Symptoms: Lean, weak, swelling limbs, less developed muscles, dry skin, diarrhoea, etc.

6 Q. Describe the Internal structure of human heart. A: Internally heart is divided into four chambers. Two upper parts are 'auricles' and lower ones are 'ventricles'. The two articles are separated from each by inter atrioler septum and the right and left ventricles are separated from each other by inter ventricular septum. The walls of the ventricles are relatively thicker than auricle walls. Pulmonary artery that arises from the right ventricle carries deoxygenated blood to lungs. Aorta arises from the left ventricle supplies blood to all the body parts except lungs. The right auricle and right ventricle are connected to each other by right atrio ventricular aperture. Tricupsid value guards adjacent in right atrio ventricular apratuse. The left auricle and left ventricle are connect to each other by left atrio ventricular aperture and it has Bicep side valve. Blood from the anterior parts of the body collected by superior venacava which opens into right atrium. Blood from the posterior parts of the body is collected by inferior venacava which opens into right atrium. Coronary arteries supply blood to the muscles of the heart where as coronary views collect blood from the heart. 7 15. Describe the accessory excretory organs in human body? A: Lungs, skin, liver are carryout excretion as a secondary function Lungs: In respiratory process lungs remove CO 2 and water. Skin: It consists of large number of sweat glands richly supplied with blood capillaries, from which they extract sweat and some metabolic wastes. Since the skin sends out plenty of water and small amount of salts, it serves as an excretory organ. Liver: Liver is also involved in urea formation. It produces bile pigments (bilirobin, biliverdin & urochrome) which are metabolilc wastes of hemoglobin of dead R.B.C Bilerubin, biliverdin are excreted through bile along with cholesterol and derivatives of steroid hormones, vitamins and alkaline salts. Lung Skin Liver Intestine Q. Explain the process of urine formation? A: Due to metabolism several harmful excretory products are formed, the process of removing toxic waste from the body is called "excretion". Formation of urine involves 4 stages: i) Glomerular filteration ii) Tubular reabsorption iii) Rubular seoretion and iv) Concentration of urine Glomerular filteration: Blood flows from renal artery to glomerules through afferent arteriole. Filteration of blood occurs in glomerulus. Glomerular filterate is also knows as primary urine which almost equal to blood in chemical composition except presence of blood cells. Tubular Reabsorption: The primary urine passes into Proximal convoluted tubule. Useful substances like Glucose, Amino acids, NaCl, K + HCO 3 ions and 75% of water are re absorbed into peritubular network. Tubular Secretion: After reabsorption in reabsorption in proximal convoluted region (PCT) the urine travels through the loop of hand into distal convoluted tubule. Here, some other wastes like extra ions of K +, NO +, Cl, H + secrets from peritubular capillaries into distal convoluted tubele which are surrounded by peritubular network.

8 Concentration of urine: 75% of water content of the nephric filtrate is reabsorbed in the region of proximal convoluted tubule and 10% of water passes out of filtrate through osmosis in the area of loop of Henle. Concentration of urine takes place in the area of collecting tubes in the passes of hormone called 'vasopressin'. The hormone is secreted only when concentrated urine is to be passed out. 16. Explain the Light screen experiment which you have done in your class room. A: Aim: To prove that sunlight is necessary for photosynthesis experiment. Apparatus: Potted plant, Light screen, Iodine solution, Petridish, Black paper. Black paper experiment Procedure: Take a potted plant and destarch it by keeping in the dark for 3 4 days. Cover one of its leaves with black paper on which a design is cut on both sides of leaf. Fix the paper on the leaf in such a manner that light does not enter the dark past. Place this plant in the sun for few hours. After few hours of exposure to bright sunlight, test the leaf which is covered by black paper for the presence of starch. Observation: It will be observed that only the parts of the leaf, which could get sunlight through the cut out design, turns blue black showing the presence of starch. Result: This experiment proves that light is necessary for photosynthesis. Q. How can you prove that heat is generated in respiration? A: Aim: To prove that heat is liberated in respiration. Apparatus: Thermos flask, Thermometer, Rubber corbs, Germinating seeds. Thermometer Thermos flask Germinating seeds Heat evolved during respiration

9 Procedure: Take some germinating seeds in a thermosflask. Fix it with a single hole cork put a thermometer in it. Must be kept the thermometer nobe among the germinating seeds. Check the temperature for every two hours to get good result continue it for 24 hours. Observation: Constant increase in the temperature is observed in thermometer placed in the germinating seeds.
