18 Hand Therapy Katherine Butler B.Ap(Sc)OT, AHT(BAHT), A.Mus.A(Flute) Katherine Butler is a Clinical Specialist in Hand Therapy. She established London Hand Therapy in 2006 with the aim of providing first class private assessment and treatment of all hand and upper limb conditions. Katherine has been working in the specialist area of Hand Therapy since 1995 and is one of a few fully Accredited Hand Therapists (AHT) with The British Association of Hand Therapists. As a recipient of the highly prestigious Queen s Trust Award Australia in 1998 she came to London to study and work in the area of performing arts medicine. Her clinical experience has focused on plastic and orthopaedic surgery patients with hand and upper limb injuries, burns, and rheumatological conditions. She has lectured and published widely, established two hand therapy units, worked as a research therapist and is currently performing doctoral research in the area of Focal Hand Dystonia affecting musicians. 20 Spinal Surgery Mr Dan Plev MD FANCH I began my private practice in London after being awarded a prestigious fellowship with the London Spine Clinic, where I greatly increased my exposure and experience in treating complex spinal conditions. Working in a team environment also helped me develop a holistic approach to patients, utilising the least invasive therapeutic measures whenever possible and minimally invasive surgical techniques when surgery was the only option to improve a patient s condition. Mr Plev is a member of the North American Spine Society and is involved in several research projects. He specialises in spinal assessment, treatment and surgery; including surgical and non-surgical treatment of degenerative spinal conditions, and surgical and non-surgical treatment of osteoporotic conditions. 22 Rheumatology Dr Nora Ng Dr. Nora Ng graduated from the University of Nottingham Medical School. She completed her subspecialist rheumatology training in London. During this time, she has worked at numerous leading London teaching hospitals including Imperial College Healthcare Trust, the Royal London and University College Hospital. She is currently a consultant rheumatologist at Guys and St Thomas NHS Trust. Dr. Ng has a strong background in managing all aspects of rheumatological conditions and has a special interest in inflammatory arthritis (rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis), gout, osteoporosis, fibromyalgia as well as soft tissue problems. She maintains a strong interest in research especially in the area of ultrasound in inflammatory arthritis and has also undertaken an MD in this area. Dr Syed Babar, Consultant Radiologist, MCPS, FCPS, DMRD, FRCR Dr Syed Babar is a Consultant Radiologist and lead specialist for musculoskeletal, orthopaedic and rheumatological imaging at Hammersmith Hospital. In addition to his post as Senior Lecturer at Imperial College, London, Dr Babar runs private diagnostic and interventional clinics at a number of locations around London. Dr Simon Blease, Consultant Radiologist, MB, BCh, FRCR, FFSEM, FBIR Dr Simon Blease is a Consultant Radiologist and works fulltime at a number of private imaging facilities in Central London. Following his training at the Welsh National School of Medicine, Dr Blease entered the RAF Medical Branch and held a prestigious post as Director of Radiology at RAF Hospital Wroughton. Dr Blease is a passionate advocate for advancement of imaging technology and has implemented a number of new services throughout London.
