3 Medical Park Loipl A specialised centre for neuropaediatric rehabilitation The neuropaediatric therapeutic concept for children and adolescents at Medical Park Loipl provides for extensive individual diagnostics and treatment. All processes are developed in collaboration with patients, legal guardians and our team of interprofessional specialists. 6 Good success through optimal support. Our treatment concept Children with underlying neurological disorders frequently require very extensive support affecting many areas of their life. To ensure that our patients reap the benefits of our treatment in the long term, we take into account not only their family life, but also their individual needs and goals. To this end, we provide creative and targeted therapeutic procedures which include both individual and group therapies. We regularly involve the parents by discussing the patient s therapeutic goals with them to ensure that they are able to integrate the process in their daily routine. To this end, we support our patients in learning skills to cope in everyday situations, also outside the treatment rooms. Our multiprofessional team includes paediatricians (neuropaediatric specialists), neurologists, internists, physiotherapists, neuropsychologists, occupational specialists, speech therapists, nurses and other professionals. Our physiotherapy department works with the young patients, among others, to improve muscle growth, balance and coordination to restore or improve their mobility and ability to walk, and thus their independence. Patients and parents alike are instructed on how to deal better with their situation by learning new methods based on recognised therapeutic concepts, such as Bobath therapy, hippotherapy, water therapy and gait training. 7 It is not uncommon for children with neurological disorders to feel exhausted, tired or unwell owing to their situation. Neuro- and psychologists teach not only the children and adolescents, but also their parents, how to cope with their limitations. The therapists offer compassionate appraisals, neuropsychological tests as well as individual or computer-assisted therapies. Speech therapists offer patients step-bystep support for communication and swallowing difficulties and to understand spoken and written language. The goal is to enable patients to express themselves through speech or writing or by alternative technical means. In occupational therapy, the specialists frequently focus on the motor skills of the hands and fingers. Using technical aids where necessary, this therapy is designed to help patients learn to cope better with activities of daily living. In addition, the children s joy of learning in a playful way is also trained with creative activities (drawing, crafting). Further treatment options, including botulinum toxin, music therapy, climbing therapy and massages round off our treatment concept. While limits of milestone development may occur, it is our goal to overcome these limits together. 13

8 Accommodation All patient rooms are designed to be family-friendly and have special play and common areas for parents and their children. During leisur, an indoor pool is at your free disposal. In addition, our facility offers ample opportunities for families to meet up and spend time together, for example, in the café or in the cosy fireplace room. Our reception staff and our service staff are happy to lend a helping hand to organise trips or provide information about the shuttle service.
