1 Biology 9 Human Anatomy and Physiology I Spring 08 Professor: Dr. John T. Beneski Course Syllabus Office...Merion Phone Hours...M -; T 9-; W - Catalog Description Bio 9 Human Anatomy and Physiology I (). An introduction to human structure and function. Skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems are emphasized. Laboratory involves study of human development and gross anatomy of the skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems. (,) May not be taken as a biology major elective. Learning Objectives Students completing Human Anatomy and Physiology I should demonstrate a proficient understanding of the human body and how it maintains homeostasis at the cellular, tissue, organ, and organ system levels. At the cellular level, students will investigate cell biochemistry, cell structure, cell function, and specialized cell types; at the tissue level, students will survey the general structure, function, and locations of all basic tissue types; at the organ and organ system level, students will be introduced to the integument, skeletal system, muscular system, and nervous system as well as the interactions of these systems. In addition, students will review the basic processes and interactions that occur during the course of early human development as the basic body plan is established. Grading Final letter grades will be determined based on the total number of points earned from all sources as follows: A- 70 points; A 7 points B- 60 points; B 66 points; B+ 696 points C- 60 points; C 8 points; C+ 66 points D- 80 points; D 0 points; D+ 6 points F 000-->79 points (+) and (-) will be used according to University Policy
