Viewing & Ordering Imaging in CPRS To view radiology images In the top menu, go to Tools à Imaging à Image Display. Click the name of a study to pull it up in a viewing window. - You can also view ECGs from this window by clicking the ECG symbol on the right of the top menu The CPRS imaging view window listing imaging studies available for review (top image) with imaging menu (bottom image, zoomed in) with ECG button (red)
To view images side-by-side Select one of the images you would like to view and open it. In the top menu shown above the image, select View Settings à 2:1 Stack. Minimize that image, and select the second image under radiology images. Right-click on the image and select Open Image in 2nd Radiology Window to open it next to the original image.
To order an imaging study Go to Orders and scroll down the left menu to click Imaging/Radiology à Radiology/Nuc Med Orders (in the inpatient orders menu) or Imaging Requests (in the outpatient/er orders menu), which will bring up a general imaging request form. Required information for the imaging request form: - Imaging type (e.g., General Radiology, CT Scan) - Specific imaging procedure (e.g., chest X-ray, CTA head) - Clinical reason for study - Date desired - Urgency - Category (e.g., inpatient or outpatient) - Transport (e.g., ambulatory, portable, stretcher, etc.) - Where to submit the order (generally DIS S Radiology ) You can also enter modifiers including wet read (which will trigger the radiologist to provide you with a wet read of the image prior to formal read), portable study, side (L or R), or pre-operative to help you communicate your needs with radiology. The general imaging request form
The Imaging Quick Orders menu is the easiest way to order common imaging types including CXR, CTs, and ultrasounds, as the orders will auto-populate much of the form information for you. You can select an imaging type and edit the order as needed. The CPRS image quick order menu A sample imaging quick order for a CT Chest with Contrast. Please note the order autopopulates relevant information including the patient s age, allergies, and most recent Cr.
To order an MRI Go to MRI Quick Orders in the left pane to open the MRI quick order menu. The initial screen will have you choose the level of sedation desired for the study. - If you select a sedated MRI, the order set will automatically bring up sedation orders after the completion of your imaging orders The initial MRI quick orders screen You can then select your MRI study desired from a list of MRI types, which will pull up imaging orders as well as an MRI worksheet that must be completed before the MRI can be performed (if the worksheet is not performed, your study will be cancelled). - It is often helpful to place your MRI orders from a computer on wheels so that you can ask the patient questions from the worksheet while placing the order MRI imaging types available with moderate sedation
The MRI worksheet, which includes questions about allergies, metallic objects (e.g., piercings, shrapnel), medical devices, and complicating medical conditions (e.g, claustrophobia)
To order an IR procedure Go to Consults à Vascular & Interventional Radiology, place a consult for either vascular access (tunneled line/cvc) or non-cvc IR procedure, and fill out the form. - For urgent inpatient consults call x61289 and/or page the IR fellow on call in Amion To order an echocardiogram Go to Consults à Cardiology à Cardiology Procedures and select your desired echocardiogram type (TTE, TEE), then fill out the form. - If repeating an echo within 12 months of the last echo, you will need to call Cardiology for approval prior to the study To order oral contrast for an imaging study Go to Imaging/Radiology à Oral Contrast Quick Orders (in the inpatient orders menu) or Imaging Quick Orders à Miscellaneous à Oral Contrast Quick Orders (in the outpatient orders menu) to pull up orders for different types of oral contrast.
