Definition of Success Webster s Definition of Success: 1. The achievement of something desired, planned or attempted. 2. Attainment of wealth position, honors, and status. How do you define success? What would success look like for you? Successful People Actively Invest in Themselves. 2
Holding on to the Past 1. Make a list of the things from your past that you are still holding on to, things that you have not forgiven or that keep you from moving forward. 2. What do you want to change most about your life? 3. What lessons have you learned from life events or mistakes over the past year? Over the last five years? What from your past are you still holding on to? Life lessons from the past year: What do you want to change most about your life? Life lessons over the past five years? 3
A Time to Reflect Let s consider the following: 1. Me Goals involve making personal changes. 2. Team Goals may require collaboration with your spouse, partner, family or closest friends. When you consider Me Goals and Team Goals, there are five areas that you should look at carefully: Purpose, Mission, Vision The Team Goals The Me Goals Remember, if we are not trying to get better, we are remaining stagnant. 4
Negative Influences of Other People Negative people and negative self-talk can shatter our self-esteem, self-confidence, and our will to strive toward anything positive. What current relationships are healthy for you and which ones are actually toxic? 1. List the names of the individuals closest to you, i.e., those in your inner circle. 2. Place a + next to those who create a positive influence in your life. 3. Place a - next to those, if any, who seem to have more of a negative influence on your life. 4. Draw an arrow from the names next to whom you placed a - to a line outside the circle and rewrite the name of that individual outside the circle. 5. Replace those individuals you have eliminated with any additional voices of encouragement who should become a part of your inner circle. SUE + PAT + DAVE - DAVE We have to be careful about those individuals who have negative voices of influence in our lives. Sometimes they tell us that our dreams and goals are inadequate, or they belittle our efforts to succeed. They may even tell us that we are incapable and incompetent and remind us of past failures. These are the NIOPs, the negative influences of other people. We must eliminate those negative voices of influence in our lives and replace them with voices of support and encouragement. We must reevaluate our relationships with those in our inner circle, those who are closest to us. Explore whether or not people who are closest to you are helping you or hindering you toward achieving your success. 5
Don t Get Derailed, Claim Your Personal Power! To take control of your personal power, several things must be in place so that you will not be derailed. Many of these tips are similar to those that we have discussed, but pay particular attention to how they impact grasping the personal power you are meant to have. Be sure to Because Leave the Past in the Past. Recall Past Successes. Learn How to Forgive Yourself and Others. Recognize You Own Weaknesses/ Limitations. Stay in Your Own Lane. Avoid Toxic People and Toxic Situations. Don t Assume the Victim Role. Conquer Your Fears. Invest in Yourself. Always Maintain an Attitude of Gratitude. SDS Global Enterprises, Inc.
