3 FOREWORD This volume presents the topics of the invited lectures and peer-reviewed abstracts of paper and posters presented at the 2nd International Conference Psychology and the Realities of the Contemporary World - PSIWORLD 2011, in, Romania, October PSIWORLD 2011 is the second international conference organized by the Romanian Society of Applied Experimental Psychology, together with University of, Department of Psychology and Education Sciences, under the aegis of the Romanian Psychology Collegium. It acknowledges that the amount of practical problems to which the psychology is confronted is extremely large, the need of an applied science perspective is highly demanded, while the need of sustaining excellence research in the field is mandatory. The presentations abstracted in this volume range from empirical psychological studies, to theoretical reviews and meta-analyses, covering a variety of practical problems to which nowadays psychologists and educational scientists are confronted to. They provide an opportunity for researchers and practitioners from Romania and worldwide to discuss recent trends in the study of topical issues of the modern world and share the knowledge, expertise and solutions they have envisioned. We would like to acknowledge the essential contribution of the organizing institutions and the support provided by our sponsors in making this conference happend.
