2 We all have our own emotional experience s. The smell of fresh bread (when I was a child). The smell of cigarette smoke (going through a divorce). Those smells still resonate and produce emotions or feelings. Even physically today. Smells like. Aroma has a profound affect on us mentally, emotionally, and physically. It is innate, necessary for survival, identification, and memories! Can emotions, left unchecked, create disorder? Just think about your own experiences for a moment Close your eyes and recall a favorite smell how do you feel? Now try the same with a smell that triggers disgust. How does that feel? You don t need science to understand aromas are profound!!! 2

3 Positive or Negative? Good or Bad? Emotions are not physical. They are feelings. Joy, sorrow, love, hate, fear. What do they do to the physiology? If the emotion (feeling) is strong, physiological changes take place. Recall your first love. What did your heartbeat do? Respiration? What is it to cry, shake, or dance in the rain? Emotions are neither good nor bad. They are just feelings. However. Emotions that are left unchecked, buried, or not completely dealt with, remain and may manifest into physical disorders. (C.D.C. Kaiser ACE study violence and prevention ACE study) The ACE study. 17,000 participants. 67% experienced at least one emotional trauma admitted to being unresolved. 80% had two or more. Undeniable conclusion: Emotional toxicity contributed to: disorder/disease, disability, social problems, bad behaviors, addictions, emotional/cognitive imbalance, and early death. 3

4 Everything is energy Albert Einstein said it best. You cannot destroy energy, only change its form. Yet, we all vibrate at a certain frequency (Just not all at the same vibration what s your frequency?). Even the bible tells us that God is light (John 1:5). Light is energy (Quantum: both a particle and a wave). Emotions are also energy. They help guide us in life and survival. Think about a joyful event it feels good. Law of Attraction says: You attract that which you are feeling. Emotions are the measure of a man Emotions are often the result of an experience good or bad. We heal when we help deter the bad, process it, and let it go.. 4

5 Quick Quiz: (T or F) Emotions are neither good nor bad. They are just feelings. Emotions can be thought of as a measurement of what we experience. True True Experience is the best teacher. The brain creates pathways built on emotions. If learning to ride a bike produced good feelings, you enjoyed it and still like it today. If it was a bad experience (fear, anxiety) and it never left you, biking may not be your thing. What emotion do you feel now as you think about biking? What memories come up? Any smells? 5

6 One thing leads to another Strong feelings turn into strong thoughts. If it is of a negative nature, this is known as toxic. Negative thoughts come from toxic emotions. Just thinking about it brings up unsettling emotions. Think about a situation you feel strongly about. Are you happy or angry? Science even has shown these toxins can be stored in the mind and in the cells. ( Exercise your right to happiness Right now say out loud 3 times: I am a happy wonderful human being. I love life and love myself. How do you feel? Did it bring joy? Tears? Couldn t do it? If so, it is a clue, there are many who cannot feel happiness. 6

7 The fruit will be for food and the leaves for healing Ezekiel 47:12 Aroma therapy works because it is connected to the most powerful sense we have, smell. Smells usually evoke an emotional response. Olfactory bulb to the Limbic system of the brain. Finally to the Amygdala. Which is the seat or emotional center (NYU Insight 1989) Finally let s discuss usage Essential Oils Always begin emotional healing (releasing toxic emotions) with oils slowly. Physically they can signal cells/dna. Even make cellular membranes vibrate (sing). When using this type of self help, if you feel overwhelmed, reduce the amount of oil and time of usage. Clearing out toxic emotions (feelings) is like clearing out physical toxins (detoxification of debris of the body). Some people are timid to tackle this or are in denial. Be patient and encouraging. A Journal (diary) provides a way to record releasing of toxic emotions and helps release overall. 7

A slow and subtle process and we don t want to overwhelm anyone. Be the Tortoise, not the Hare. Questionnaire Provided in this presentation is an attached PDF file of a questionnaire. It provides 27 segments of questions. If answer more than 2 questions yes in any segment, consider that recommended oil for release. It contains a full set of instructions and optional ideas on how to use oils for toxic emotional release. Let s look at one example of the 27. This may help open a whole new avenue of business.. 8

9 Example: # 13: -Do your relationships seem toxic? -Do you feel tense or have unresolved conflict? -Do you have a lack of inner life? -Do you describe yourself as being out of it? -Do you tend to feel that everything is uncleanly? LEMON- Universal emotional balancer. Issues of self, tiredness, lethargic, anxiety, feelings of impurity. 5 Practitioner caveats 1- Some emotions are buried deep. Emotional amnesia. 2- It is about healing, it is not a race. Be patient. Be forgiving, especially of yourself. 3- This is an art form. It takes practice and effort/time. 4- One cannot dispel a lifetime of toxic emotions in just one application! 5- Toxic Emotions that need releasing are like an onion. When one layer is exposed, there may be another layer underneath. 9

10 I wouldn t change a thing With each toxic emotion comes a lesson If I could live my life over what would I change?. If you get to: I wouldn t change a thing Success. They may be difficult or even tragic to over come. But learn to let it go and learn from it. Become a better you because of it. That is true healing. Use support if need be. Journal, a friend, spouse, etc. Prepare for what you forgot! Drink lots of water. Pray and focus. If you are under a medical professionals care, ask if this is a method for you to use at this time. Oils used with care and diluted, are safe. This is a slow subtle process. Techniques in conjunction Reflexology, massage, auricular therapy, acupuncture, chiropractic, etc. 10

11 Affirmation Once you identify from the questionnaire what oil(s) you are now using, place a few drops in palm of hand, rub in other. Cup over nose and mouth. Inhale deeply. State your intent and purpose (positive of course). LOUDLY. Repeat 3 times. Write it down too. Place where you work, repeat often. Example: Lemon. Helps with being accepted. Inhale and repeat something similar like: I am safe, happy, secure, and appreciated. Teach that Limbic system a new dance! In conclusion This is not the cure all/end all. But a very nice, integrative and holistic approach to clearing toxic emotions. Emotions are neither good nor bad, but can interfere with our wellbeing if left unchecked. Everything is energy! You have the right to be happy and use aromatherapy to enhance that. Read over and use the questionnaire and record your own experiences - so you can help others. It s a whole new avenue of potential business. Include therapies and affirmations. It has been an honor! 11
