Chapter 2 Brain2020.com Power Of The Mind The way you lead your life and the choices you make depend on the way your mind processes information and thoughts. In fact, everything on earth started from thoughts and ideas, and then later developed into actions and products. Your mind has an amazing ability to turn thoughts into reality, if you know how and what you should do to achieve the success that you desire. You may be doubtful of this now, but bear in mind that there are many things in life that people take for granted and neglect to do when trying to reach for their goals. If you are ready and able to fuse all of these techniques together, succeeding in life with a greater mental ability would prove to be much easier. 2.1 Understanding The Potential Of The Mind Both you and I were born with an amazing gift The Human Mind. The mind is the main control system of our entire body, helping us achieve things that we would never have, if not for its ability to handle complex and tricky functions alongside everything else. Studies have shown that the human brain is proficient enough to process up to 30 billion bits of information per second, with 6000 miles worth of cabling and wiring. Neurons present in the brain helps to transmit information from the body s surroundings to the brain so as to determine the type of action one should take in response to a situation. These small yet powerful neurons work separately from one 7

another, transmitting information from cell to cell within the nervous system. In other words, they affect the actions we take and the choices we make. You may be surprised to know that computers we possess today are not able to work at speeds and complexity as advanced as the human brain is. Even the most expensive and speediest of all computers is not able to process as much information or generate as many linkages as the average human mind is able to at one time. This goes to show the capabilities of the average human mind, and how all talk about computers surpassing the human ability are but invalid and baseless claims. It is evident that with our ability to work at such speeds and complexity, our superior existence makes us competent individuals who should be able to stay in control of our lives. With the potential that you have, turning your desired thoughts into reality can be easily attained if you know how. 2.2 Being Aware Of What You Can Achieve By now, you should be convinced of your ability to achieve greater things in life. Being aware of your potential and how much you can actually achieve is the stepping stone towards attaining success in life. Also, creating a trusting relationship with yourself is what you need to ensure next to get your goals. Your thirst for success stems from your interest and desire to achieve your ultimate goal. This results in your mind working on the subconscious plane to bring into the field 8

of consciousness many ideas of value and importance. It is exactly these interests and desire that will motivate and spur you on to achieve your goals on the conscious level. This makes getting your subconscious mind fed with positive information crucial, if you wish to have your conscious self succeeding in tasks at hand. As such, feeding your conscious mind new techniques so that your subconscious is able to display similar positive actions automatically in the future is necessary in ensuring a more positive behavior on the conscious level. Your conscious mind helps you stay aware of your surroundings and facilitates your entire experience as a human. The information received from the conscious mind is transmitted to the subconscious, which then processes emotions and thoughts in response to that given situation. Response from the subconscious will then be reflected to the conscious mind, guiding the way your mind thinks and how your body works. This emphasizes the importance of ensuring that your subconscious mind is trained to think rationally and optimistically. There are several mental exercises that you can execute to help your mind gain awareness of yourself while training to perform positively. 9

Knowing Your Mind It is important to know how your mind functions and reacts to new information and situations. Understanding the way it works puts you in a better position to find new approaches to maximize the use of your mind. Begin by finding a quiet place where you can sit and think to yourself. Close your eyes and think of something new. As this idea comes to you, recognize that it is your mind reacting in a particular way to new ideas and thoughts. Depending on how it comes to your mind, it reflects how it processes thoughts and perceives things. So, ideas you get could be in the form of images or sounds. In this case, you can develop more balance in the way your mind works by perceiving them in other ways. For instance, if ideas are usually in the form of visuals, you may wish to enhance your ability to capture audio sounds that you may have missed previously by giving more attention to your auditory sensors. Repeat this exercise over several times to test for your mind s actual inclination towards new ideas. This basic exercise helps you identify the way your mind works and teaches you how to achieve a fine balance between what you have and what you do not. In this exercise, consciously suggest new ways to let your mind function better and more efficiently. Suggestions made to the subconscious helps to generate a more positive outcome on the conscious level in the future. 10

Affirming Your Current Life You are what you are and where you are because of the countless choices that you have made during this life time. Each choice has an influence, however slight, upon your path in life. Understand that every choice you make has an end result, thus, it is you who place yourself in a position to either become successful in life or not. To enhance comprehension of your current life and of how your mental abilities are able to facilitate the way you achieve success today, start by taking inventory of all that you have. You are where you are right now because of the choices you have already made, so taking at look at the past helps you understand the true impact that choices you have made have on your life. You should take inventory of everything you have and everything you have done that has any significance. These things happened because of a series of choices that were made for you as a child and by you as you matured. Next, ask yourself a question: What do you really want out of life? Reflecting on that question can save you an enormous amount of time and heartache. Many people pursue goals that are set or influenced by someone else, but pursuing those goals that are not yours, it does not necessarily produce maximum satisfaction or significant accomplishments for you. The beginning point for the momentous undertaking of figuring out what you want from life is a note pad, a quiet spot, and time to ponder the question at length. Think along the lines of "If I were absolutely certain that I would not fail, and if I had all the 11

resources necessary to get there, what would I really want to be, have, or do?" Let your imagination run wild, and permit no judgment to follow the impulses that you put on that piece of paper. Do not use money as your yardstick, but do not eliminate it as a desirable goal. Money is frequently the result of performance and service, but making money your prime goal influences other choices to a large degree. This exercise aims to help you identify what you want in your life and how much of it you already have. By being fully aware of what you want and how you can achieve your goals, you are a step closer to achieving success. This effectively helps to reprogram your mind, setting it in the right direction to reach your aims. 12

Chapter 3 Brain2020.com Conditioning Your Mind For Success One of the most fundamental steps in achieving success is having the right mind frame. You need to be able to accept things that are taking place, access the situation quickly and evaluate what your next move should be. Conditioning your mind for success is therefore critical in ensuring that you are in the right mental state and direction when working towards your goals. 3.1 Avoiding Self Sabotage What many fail to realize is that they are constantly engaged in self sabotage when they have lose confidence in their own abilities. Instead, they allow past or current experiences govern the way they lead their lives in the future, whether good or bad. Without a doubt, all of us would have suffered the ups and downs of life, and have correspondingly developed strengths and weaknesses out of these experiences. Thus, it is important that you do not let failures in your life take control of you or make you think it is who you are. Self sabotaging behaviors prevent you from conditioning yourself for success. Changing those long, established behavior patterns like self sabotage is as difficult as recognizing and understanding them. 13

How, then, can you eliminate sabotaging beliefs and emotions? First, understand and accept yourself before attempting to understand and accept others. You have to take a journey within for personal evaluation. This means looking inside yourself and listening to your inner dialogue or self talk. Remain open minded to what you see and hear when understanding your beliefs. This is essential when making constructive changes in your behaviors. Deciding how far and deep you want to go before introspection is your decision. However, you can take your life to a new level when you discover empowering insights to eliminate damaging self talk and undermining behaviors. Letting go of self sabotaging behaviors that stop you from making changes in your life takes courage and personal commitment. This means overcoming resistances and sabotaging behaviors that have prevented you from experiencing an optimistic attitude. No matter what obstacles you face, developing an optimistic attitude, and changing unrewarding behaviors and beliefs, will awaken you to eliminate self sabotaging behaviors. 14

There are several courses of actions that you can take to become aware of and overcome your sabotaging beliefs and self defeating emotions: 1. Recognize that you are at the crossroads where your decisions and choices are yours and yours alone. 2. Realize that you are the one making the conscious decision to change your damaging self talk and undermining beliefs and behaviors. No one else can do it for you. 3. Change "I can't" or "I won't" to "I Can, I Will" on a consistent basis. Pay attention to the emotional changes going on within you. Be prepared to physically describe your changes and write them down. Repeat the process of writing down your changing feelings and behaviors and compare your notes every day. Measure your progress by the visible reoccurrences of positive self talk and healthy behaviors. Recognize that continual negative self talk will create resentments and disempowering beliefs. Self resentment is the seed that grows into self sabotaging behaviors, and it is what you need to avoid. 4. Plant the seeds that produce positive, empowering beliefs and actions instead. Ask yourself, "Are my actions linked to pleasure producing situations or to pain producing situations?'' Take the road that gives you pleasure, not grief. The personal growth experienced from facing a fearful or painful event, or adversity, is important for selfimprovement. However, do not make a steady diet of it. You can grow and change by cultivating positive emotions such as joy, excitement, and happiness. Eliminating self sabotaging behaviors and adopting a more positive mind frame, enhances the confidence that you have for yourself. It also builds a stronger and wider foundation for you when developing your journey to success. This is so as having a 15

greater belief in yourself better prepares you for the future. Therefore, you need to recognize this fact and empower yourself with more positive thoughts and emotions. 3.2 Accepting The Circumstances Accepting your current circumstances is an important indication that you are at peace with yourself. The things that you have gone through and the experiences that have made you who you are need to be recognized and accepted by you fully. When an individual has an attitude of partial approval or partial acceptance of himself, an attitude of conditional acceptance develops. Statements such as, "I'll accept myself when..." This could create hurt, anger, fear, and distrust within the individual. When you attach unreasonable conditions, your opportunities for accomplishment and enjoyment will naturally diminish if you are not able to meet the demands set out. As such, an attitude of conditional acceptance creates resistance to a healthy personal development for you. Settling for being partially accepted as a person is not enough because it does not provide enough emotional and physical nourishment. Conditional acceptance hinders your self respect and creates resistance toward growth and change. Start accepting and confirming yourself as a total person physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Start behaving and believing that you are unique, a "crown of creation." When you expect more of yourself you will get more. When you communicate through a negative self image, your message lacks confidence and determination. Conditional acceptance breeds mistrust, fear, and rejection by 16

yourself and others around. This condition also creates damaging self talk, decreasing self esteem and producing non harmonious relationships. Overcoming resistance is difficult when one is discouraged and de motivated. Taking risks is not a high priority for the person who experiences conditional acceptance. When the person is disheartened and discouraged they may say, Why trouble myself with anything? With my luck I was bound to fail. I'm not getting anywhere." These statements are signs of frustration and hopelessness. Conditional acceptance creates discouragement and resistance toward change and growth. Unconditional acceptance creates encouragement, warmth, and understanding in relationships. Resistance to growth is eliminated when one is feels unconditionally accepted by him and others. However, you may wonder, Isn t accepting things easy? Isn t it only natural to accept when good things come to you? Ideally, it is supposed to be easy and very natural. Unfortunately, this is not always true. Some people actually find it hard to accept good things in life as they are experiencing negative emotions that block the flow of good things to them. When people experience low self esteem, resentment, fear or guilt, it is difficult for them to receive from others around them. 17

Some people have been used to living in lack and hardships. This may result in them having a characteristic of poor self image or lack of self esteem, consciously or unconsciously. In other words, they do not feel that they deserve to experience any good things in life. Worse, some may actually sabotage their own dreams usually unconsciously. This may mean that they could already close to their goals, when they suddenly do something that will take them further away from it. Such feelings of unworthiness usually spring from childhood or may come in the form of trauma from a single event or repeated events, at home or at school. The trauma may have a lasting impact on thought patterns, self image and behavior even in adulthood. To check if you are capable of accepting yourself and the outcome of your desired goals, you can carry out the following exercises. 1. Ask yourself: Am I willing to receive this fully? Are you in a light, happy mood whenever you think about your goal, visualize it, and imagine its outcome? Or do you get knots in your stomach, however fleeting? Do you sometimes feel, even briefly, that you do not deserve the outcome when you visualize it? Do you feel guilt in anyway? If you do find that a part of you feels that you do not deserve the outcome of your goal, honestly ask yourself why. If this triggers a painful childhood memory, then you should allow that memory and feelings enter you. Avoid fighting it and instead allow yourself to 18

feel the emotions that accompany them. Should you feel that you need help sorting out your feelings and memories in order to heal your past, you could seek help and support from a friend or professional counselor. As you remember that memory, you can close your eyes and acknowledge it in your mind. Address it and say You have hurt me before and I have carried you for a long time. But I will leave you now. You no longer have any power over me. Imagine walking away, feeling lighter and lighter with each step. 2. To heal your past, you can carry out the Unloading Exercise. Close your eyes and imagine that you are carrying several heavy bags and loads of many kinds. Assign each bag or load to represent a painful memory in your past. Now put the bags down, one by one, and feel yourself getting lighter and lighter. After putting all your bags down, walk away. Now, to replace all the negative feelings associated with these painful memories with positive ones that boost your self image, make affirmations about your worth every day, ideally upon waking up and before going to bed. Examples are: I am a unique, wonderful human being. I do not need to please everyone. I love myself and the people who matter love me. 19

I deserve the best in life. I have a lot to contribute and people acknowledge it. I accept all the good things in life that come to me. 3. You can reinforce these positive feelings with a self appreciation exercise. Close your eyes, take deep breaths until you fully relax then picture a person close to you talking to you and telling everything they like about you. Even if you feel embarrassed, try to call to mind truthfully what this person would say to you. After they are finished, reverse roles. Assume the identity of the other person, and while you are telling yourself what you appreciate, feel the feelings of warmth and appreciation this person close to you has while talking to you. See yourself through their eyes. Notice how you feel. Even though you may have suffered for years from poor self worth, rest assured that continuous daily affirmations and regular appreciation exercises can counterbalance all those. Each time you catch yourself thinking badly of yourself, say the opposite (e.g. I am not good enough to I am more than good enough!). You can also recite one of your daily affirmations. As you build up your self image, you are also building up your mind power to make your dreams come true. Rid yourself of all negative feelings that weigh you down and fill yourself up with positive ones. With this new disposition, you can fully accept all the good that will come 20

to you. This will also enable you to create more goodness in your life for the years to come. 3.3 Believing In Yourself Believing in your ability to succeed is closely related to how well you will achieve your goals. By surrounding yourself with positive thoughts and a winning attitude, you put yourself in a better position to accomplish what you want. We all have dreams and thoughts of what we want to achieve. To enable them to materialize, you need to be able to trust your ability to do so, believe in your mind s capabilities and what the world can offer you. You were born with the ability to turn thoughts into reality, depending on your actions and motivations. Acknowledging the fact that what you want will eventually be yours may be difficult to grasp at first, but the power of the mind is actually a very natural process that many take for granted. Harnessing its power to your advantage will definitely benefit you in the long run. It is true that you need to set a goal, focus passionately on it, visualize and believe it will happen and nothing can go wrong. Belief is essential, as no matter how focused you are and how clear your visualization is, any kind of doubt can seriously prevent your goal 21

from materializing. Having doubt blocks your power and the manifestation of your goals. Worse, if you put your energy into visualizing the opposite of what you want, then it will most likely happen. Statements expressing doubt such as, That s impossible!, That has never been done before! and How can you go beyond that? prevents you from living the life that you want and deserve. On the other hand, if you believe in the power of your mind, nothing is impossible. In fact, it is the people who refused to accept these statements who did the impossible. A quick glance at those who have achieved great success in the today s world would show that all of them hold the common belief of trusting and having faith in their own abilities. It is precisely these characteristics that you need to adopt to achieve a similar level of success in your life. To help you create a mindset of belief, you can use the following affirmations daily. Repeat to yourself everyday, Anything is possible, There is always a way and Everything I want is now slowly materializing. These affirmations will generally help you assume a more open and believing attitude. Meanwhile, to ensure that your specific goals materialize, make specific affirmations after your visualization. You can say things like, I believe this is now materializing, and 22

try to feel the feeling associated with that belief. It is important to do so as not believing in yourself considerably diminishes the power or energy, of your goals. If you find yourself expressing apprehension in your own ability to achieve a goal, recall the belief that you have in yourself. Recognize the fact that anything is possible through the mind. If you believe this, why should you not believe in yourself? It is important to realize that the only limits you have are the limits you set for yourself. Other than that, you are an influential human being with powerful, unlimited potential. When feeling a tinge of self doubt, repeat the following affirmations to yourself: I have a special, amazing power to make my dreams come true. I can do anything through mind power. I can accomplish anything I want right now. Yes, anything is indeed possible with the power of your mind and your entire self. Creating empowering beliefs and behaviors enhances the way you view yourself, encouraging you to take more positive action in the future. As you become more selfdetermined, you will feel more motivated to contribute to the welfare of others as well. Your successful self image consists of healthy feelings and behaviors needed to achieve your desires. Having empowering beliefs and actions will keep you on the road to 23

continual self improvement. When you believe in yourself, you will feel capable of encouraging yourself and others, professionally and personally. Possessing a high level of self esteem and a positive self image will help you overcome problems that may otherwise overwhelm you. Belief in yourself will ultimately result in having others believe in you. When you have a direction, and know where you are going, you will increase your ability to perform a particular task. Also, when you have social and emotional support from others, you will feel more hopeful and experience less stress. You will find that you have an amazing ability to cope with the damaging effects of negative or condemning statements from others. Hope and self esteem are the medicine that transforms a negative self image into a positive one. There are several exercises you can practice periodically to build confidence and empower yourself to have more belief in your abilities. 1. Identify your strengths and accomplishments. Take a piece of paper and draw up a table describing the strengths and accomplishments that you have or have made over the years. Be honest and list down the things you have done that you are proud of. State where and how these situations have become a significant part of your life. Then, recall how hard you have worked and how much effort you have invested to get to where you 24

are today. Running down the list, realize that not everyone has the same opportunity and ability to do what you have done. 2. Close your eyes and try to feel more positively of the circumstances that you are in, your mental abilities and your strengths. Tell yourself how proud you are of all that you have achieved and how these strengths can be further utilized in other situations to help you achieve success in the future. Realize that after having achieved success in the past, doing the same in the future would definitely possible and attainable. Visualize yourself having achieved the success you desire and the ending you want to enable yourself to feel more confident of your abilities. Having felt the feeling of success and seeing yourself satisfied with what you have then, gives you more power and motivation to respond to that mental image in reality. This means that your conscious self will behave in response to that feeling which reinforces your confidence and belief that you have for yourself. Empowering yourself with positive thoughts and developing a greater belief in yourself will help set your mind in the right direction when conditioning yourself for success. Remember, if you believe strongly in yourself, those thoughts will eventually turn into reality with the power of your mind. This is because your subconscious will correspondingly act to reflect the stronger and better person that you are. 25

3.4 Staying Positive Your journey toward success will flow more smoothly if you ride the "right" attitude all the way to the top. Statements like "I think I can" beats "I can't" every time. An optimistic outlook on life helps you to achieve goals in record time and enhances the way you make friends and lifelong business associates along the way. This is because everyone enjoys being around someone who is a solution finder and one who looks for the good instead of the bad in everything. The way we view ourselves and our outlook on life is usually based on the various experiences that have impacted us. They affect our judgment on issues and we develop responses to them that gradually become a part of who we are. We therefore progressively adapt and conform to certain behaviors, reinforcing them, whether or not they positively affect our attitudes. For instance, if you were repeatedly praised as a bright child, you began to believe that you were one. Your young mind worked overtime, coming up with new ways to show how bright you were, and to elicit further praise. This is the way beliefs are formed and assimilated. As adults, however, we have the power to originate beliefs of our own choice. We can replace negative, limiting beliefs about ourselves with freshly chosen alternatives. Our minds have the ability to get rid of beliefs that do not support us. In fact, to live our 26

dream fully, a new belief system that enables us to be our best is a necessity. Our old beliefs have gotten us this far, and we need new ones to take us further into our dreams. A winning attitude often takes work to develop. An important part of this work involves forming positive statements about yourself to replace old, negative and self defeating thoughts. To adopt new and positive thoughts, we need to systematically choose affirming statements, and consciously live in them, believing in what they represent. They will become increasingly true, until we are certain that they describe who we are. You can begin by taking a closer look at the way affirmations are formed. An affirmation is a firm, positive sentence designed to convey a message from your conscious mind to your subconscious. It asserts something that you know is true, even though it may not have manifested in your life yet. When the subconscious mind receives this message, it goes to work on a subconscious level to align with it and bring it about. An effective affirmation must always be in first person (I), the present tense, and must be stated positively. So instead of, "I will not catch a cold and be sick tomorrow", which focuses your mind on the idea of sickness, you should instead tell yourself, "I am radiantly healthy now. My body feels wonderful! I see myself performing beautifully in my dance recital." Now, you have replaced the negative thought with a positive and more colorful image. As the mind can only hold one thought at a time, the thought of 27

sickness is removed, and your subconscious mind has grabbed hold of the healthy idea, swinging into action by creating better health for you. When you begin to discover situations that raise your self worth and self confidence, take advantage of those situations. Instead of saying to yourself, "What does it really matter," believe that you have control of changing your life and say, "I'm going for it," "I feel so optimistic that every situation is an exciting challenge," "I'm unstoppable." Change your negative vocabulary and self talk into positive vocabulary and self talk on a continual basis. Identifying statements that create negative emotions, for example anxiety, fear, and insecurity and statements that create positive emotions, for example excitement, joy, and challenge, affords you the opportunity to change your statements to create positive emotional and mental states. Ultimately, this will change how you act towards yourself and others. You ought to get involved in healthy and optimistic situations that generate positive outcomes and help you overcome your fears. Fears are inner barriers, or roadblocks, that can be removed by changing negative thoughts into positive ones to create positive action. For example, when you fear failure, your motivation is to avoid failure rather than to achieve or seek success. You can fear your best as well as your worst. These barriers will also prevent you from exerting yourself, not because you cannot perform, but because you fear that you are not able to perform well. 28

As such, it is critical that you constantly engage in positive self talk to develop a positive attitude within you. There are various motivating affirmations that you can use everyday. Repeat the following statements to yourself every morning to get your day and week off to a great start: 1. I clearly understand that failure is an event, not a person; that yesterday really did end last night; and that success isn't final and failure isn't fatal because I only fail if I quit. 2. I have the courage to admit a mistake and to say that I was wrong. I have the courage to ask for help and the courage to say "I don't know." I have the courage to continually strive to be the person that I am capable of becoming. 3. I have vision in my life, which means that I see not only with my eyes but also with my heart. 4. I am successful because I believe that to be truly educated, I must be mentored either in business or in my personal life, by reading or by association by superior minds with greater skills and mature spirits. 29

5. I discipline myself to do the things that I need to do when I need to do them, because I know that doing them will enable me someday to do the things I want to do when I want to do them. 6. I clearly understand that if I develop yearning power and apply learning power, I will increase my earning power. 7. I am successful because I don't confuse activity with accomplishment. I know that I can't make it in life as a wandering generality, so I am a meaningful specific. 8. I am like an eraser. I recognize my mistakes, I learn from my mistakes, and then I erase those mistakes from my memory. 9. I move forward in my life every day, even if it's only a tiny step, because I know that great things are accomplished with tiny moves, but nothing is accomplished by standing still. 10. Today I will seriously look for the good in every situation and find something about which to praise every person who works with me. Today I will be friendly to the people I work with and will treat them as though they were completely responsible for my career. Today I will express gratitude for the career that I have and the society of which I 30

am a part, and specifically for my family and friends. I will also express gratitude for the fact that my career is rewarding in ways that go far beyond financial remuneration. The practice of engaging in affirmations allows you to replace stale, worn out, or negative mind chatter with more positive ideas and concepts. It is a powerful technique, one which can in a short time transform many of our attitudes and expectations about life, thereby changing what we create for ourselves. Affirmations can be done silently, spoken aloud, written down, or even sung or chanted. Even ten minutes a day of repeating effective affirmations can counterbalance years of old bad mental habits. If you are aware that you are repeating habitual negative thought patterns or attitudes, then try saying an affirmation to yourself a few times right then and there. Therefore, it is evident that empowering your mind with positive thoughts translates to having a winning attitude that is necessary in facilitating your journey to success. 3.5 Relaxation Exercises To Stay In Control When conditioning your mind for success, do not forget to include relaxation exercises in your daily routine. Doing so helps to keep your mind in optimum working order, ready to receive what the world has to offer you and the opportunity for you to take time off to evaluate and visualize what you actually want. 31

These relaxation exercises will also help to ease the stress and tension that you are facing in your everyday life, as they could hinder your mind s ability to achieve its fullest potential. Begin by conducting some short exercises to calm your mind and body. 1. Sit back and relax in a quiet room. Close your eyes and listen to yourself breathe. Feel yourself taking each breath slowly one at a time. Take deep breaths and start counting from 1 to 10, and repeat this process over several intervals until you feel relaxed. Doing so also allows you to shift all focus to your breathing. In this exercise, remind yourself that you are feeling calm and at ease with yourself and the things that are happening around you. 2. Close your eyes and let your body relax. Feel each muscle losing its tension from your head to your toes. Adjust your position if necessary to feel your muscles relax completely. Tell yourself that you are feeling calm and in control of everything. Enjoy the experience of being relaxed with nothing to worry about. Repeat this process over several intervals until you are convinced that you are in good mental state to take on what the world has for you. Feeling comfortable about yourself and your life is essential in helping you develop the confidence you need on your way to success. 32

3. When stressed or feeling out of control of the situation that you are in, take a short break to get yourself back on track and focused. Close your eyes and imagine that you are by the sea, enjoying the breeze and sounds of the waves. Take deep breathes, relax and tell yourself that you are calm. You may wish to let out soft and gentle sounds at the same time, allowing them to clear your mind of all your frustrations. As you gradually feel more and more relaxed, leave everything behind and open your eyes. Transmit this positive energy to the things that you are doing and influence your actions and behaviors. Conducting these 3 simple exercises one at a time will help you regain and establish control of yourself. Recognizing the fact that you are in total control of your mind and body, tells your subconscious and conscious mind that you are ready and open to accept what the future has install for you. Doing so prepares your mind to face the challenges that lie ahead, helping you overcome any mental barriers that could possibly hinder your journey to success. However, if these exercises have little or no effect on you, or you are simply too pressed for time, consider trying out these similar exercises which promise effective results. Other than helping you relax, these exercises also help you gain control of your life as you map the journey to your goals mentally. 33

4. Get into a comfortable sitting position, close your eyes and breathe deeply. Imagine that you are in a comfortable place relaxing with your eyes closed. It could be your favorite beach or the cinema that is playing your favorite movie. Focus on each muscle of your body and let each relax one by one. Keep breathing deeply until you feel that you are fully relaxed. A relaxed mind and body will allow you to focus more on your thoughts, in this case, enjoying the sea breeze or the movie that is played. After imagining, take several deep breaths again and slowly open your eyes. This exercise helps you to regain focus and recompose your thoughts quickly. Having a peaceful mind is effective when you wish to get yourself back on track after having lost your train of thoughts on a busy day. This exercise may prove to be less effective for some, as it challenges the mind to process several thoughts and emotions over a short period of time. However, regular practices will enable you and your mind to get used to this process and therefore develop the ability to master this technique quickly. 5. At times, you may feel that the journey to your destination is a long and hard to reach one. In such cases, you may feel that things are in a mess and out of your control. What you should do then is visualize your goals repeatedly. This is particularly helpful for long term goals, as repetition makes your visualizations more powerful. In addition, it would be especially helpful to you if you can make it into a habit. This means making it a point to imagine your desired ending or goals at least once daily, upon rising in the 34

morning or before going to sleep. Ideally, you should do it both in the morning and at night. This will naturally give you the drive and motivation when you are conscious to work towards your goals. Visualization will help you to discover more energy and joy in life as you tune in to your inner self. It will also help you gain the competitive edge in your personal and professional relationships. This is because visualization, also known as 'mental imaging,' is a powerful skill that can be practiced regularly to improve your communication skills. It is a process of relaxation that enables you to consciously evoke your desired sensations and images. It works as if you are watching yourself and your surroundings on an inner screen. When you visualize, you are giving signals to your body to either increase or decrease sensation. Visualizations enable you to be in total control of your sensations of feeling, hearing, smelling, seeing, color and temperature. As such, when you visualize, you control your feelings and thoughts. It is therefore important to communicate positive signals, feelings, or ideas to maximize pleasant thoughts and situations, and eliminate unpleasant ones in your mind. To practice visualization, begin by choosing a place that is relatively quiet and where you can be alone for fifteen to thirty minutes. Then close your eyes and concentrate on your breathing. Breathe deeply and calm your body and mind. Imagine yourself sitting on the beach watching the sunset over the ocean. Try to listen to the sound of the wind and waves, and feel the sun as it touches your face. Admire the beauty of the clear blue sky, 35

touch the rocks and sand, and focus on anything else that pleases you. Upon completion, open your eyes, relax, and get ready for the next segment. Next, close your eyes and try to create as real an image of the actual situation that you want to change or hope to achieve. Focus on what is in the background and the foreground of your surroundings. Now choose a behavior or a skill that is important to you. Make sure that it is one that you wish to modify or change. For example, it could be a new skill that you want to improve upon such as public speaking. When you have that particular situation in mind, visualize your movements and begin to slow yourself down by breathing deeply. Imagine yourself speaking in front of a group and listen to what you are saying. Observe your nonverbal gestures and visualize this segment as if it were in slow motion. You need to pay close attention to your own movements and sounds. Following that, begin to change and correct your verbal and nonverbal behaviors that could frustrate your communication and performance. Replace your unproductive actions with ones that are more appropriate to improve your skills and increase your performance. With your eyes still closed, allow yourself to review the situation again, only this time in the normal speed and in the new way. Remember, you need to pay close attention to your verbal and nonverbal communication constantly. After doing so, you should be gradually experiencing feelings of confidence and inner calmness develop within you. 36

Finally, imagine the audience applauding and you achieving the success that you desire. When you have finished, open your eyes and enjoy the way that you are feeling about yourself. For some, it may be useful to write down certain parts of the experience that have significantly affected one s behaviors or thoughts. It is also important to note that this form of guided imagery can be implemented on a regular basis. In fact, it is recommended that you practice these steps fifteen minutes a day, increasing your time incrementally, to thirty minutes. As you gradually feel yourself improving from these changes, consider adopting this method to change other aspects of your life that previously prevented you from achieving the success you desire. Visualization is therefore necessary to help you regain calmness of your mind, while making positive changes to your subconscious behaviors that will eventually alter your conscious actions and feelings. Thus, it is evident that conducting visualization exercises will be effective in helping you achieve your goals. Also, having goals help you determine what success in life is. Having known what your desired ending is, you can visualize it to have actually happened using this technique, and get motivated as you discover your mental potential to reach your 37

destination. As such, imagining that it has already happened and making subconscious improvements to your mind facilitate the way you reach your desired ending. 3.6 Seeking Support Many today are concerned with the impressions they leave with those around them. You may be surprised to know that some fear embarrassing themselves or fear failing to meet expectations, such that they develop a sense of low self esteem or confidence in their abilities. They condition their minds to believe that they will never be as good as others or that no one is able to understand or help them. This however is an unhealthy mentality that must be gotten rid of and replaced with positive thinking. Instead of being afraid to commit mistakes or fail at tasks, you should attempt to learn from these experiences. It is crucial that you surround yourself with people who have achieved success in their lives or are available to provide you with good advice or support you need to assist you in your development process. Do not be afraid of how people might judge you and instead be willing to adopt a more open perspective to share and learn from them. Of course, you need to decide for yourself whether the advice or opinions offered by others is a fair or good one that benefits you. Getting support and help from others is not a sign of weakness but on the contrary, courage and determination to improve. When you have social and emotional support from others, you will develop a more positive outlook in life and experience less stress. Managing the ups and downs of life 38

will then seem much easier as you know that there are others around who care and are there for you. You will also have an amazing ability to cope with the damaging effects of negative or condemning statements from others. This is because; hope and self esteem are the medicine that transforms a negative self image into a positive one. Thus, having support from others increases your mental ability to achieve success in life. Your mind is positively influenced, as you know that there are others around who will assist you along your journey to realizing your dreams. In seeking support from others, remember to surround yourself with people who have an optimistic outlook in life, and who are constantly looking for new ways to improve and help you. In other words, minimize contact with those who constantly criticize or ridicule your ambitions. Remember that no dream is too big or impossible, unless its master sets it out to be so and does not have faith in his own abilities. You should also avoid spending too much time with people who possess negative dispositions. Their blaming, whining and complaining can bring down the level of your mind power and optimism. As a tip, make a mental note of the people whom you spend time with everyday. Are these people supportive of you and do they maintain a positive attitude? Or are they generally negative; draining your energy and making you feel bad after being in their company? 39

If they appear positive and supportive of you, then they are just the people that you have been looking for! Identify who they are and make an effort to remain closer to them. Ensure that you have them around when you share your thoughts and plans of achieving your goals with others. Having their support and feedback makes your journey to success an easier and quicker one. If they are not however, then you may wish to consider spending less time with them. If they are your loved ones living under the same roof as you, then refrain from sharing your dreams and goals with them. This is because; they may unintentionally or subconsciously criticize your ambitions without even knowing it. Your loved ones may not have considered the consequences or effects that their opinions could have on you. Be aware of this and instead, try to cheer them up or make them laugh when they start complaining about how bad things are. This is to bring their energy levels up before they can bring yours down. It is critical that you are able to find optimism in the things that you do and the people around you, so as to motivate yourself to succeed in life. Always spend time with positive people and those who have the drive to succeed in life. Expect that you will meet positive and successful people, and visualize talking to them regularly. Soon, you will feel that you have more and more positive people around you. The more your mind believes in its ability to do something, the closer to reality you will get over time. 40

As long as you have optimistic and supportive people around you, seeking support from them can be done easily in a variety of ways. 1. You can get support and advice from a friend or some one close to you. Before making a big decision or doing something that you are uncertain about, you can ask for encouragement, advice, or just good luck from a friend or someone you are close to. Whether you are preparing for a big presentation or planning your next career move, getting advice from those who have had similar experiences will definitely be beneficial to you. Otherwise, having someone there listening you is also helpful in giving you the support you need. Share your dreams and goals with people whom you know will support and not ridicule them. As listening is perhaps the simplest way to give support to a person, sharing your thoughts while they listen will already fill you with enough energy to motivate you towards success. Of course, do gather feedback from those that you deem suitable and see if they are of any use to you. Do not get discouraged by views that are not aligned with yours, and instead judge for yourself to see if those suggestions can work for you. Whenever you are feeling down, talk to the person who you know will listen to you and lift your spirits up. Do not talk to someone who simply sympathizes with you and 41

complains about your situation on your behalf. This is because doing so will only let you wallow in self pity and cause you to dwell on unhappy situations. To get support on a regular basis, you can ask someone to be your dream partner. Share your dreams with each other and update each other on a regular basis on the progress of making your dreams come true. Also, encourage each other on a regular basis, and most especially when the other is feeling doubtful and losing sight of their dreams. Helping others around you succeed will also positively affect your mental ability to succeed. 2. Consider joining or forming a dream group. Much like the concept of the dream partner, a dream group helps its members achieve their goals. Aside from the usual update on the progress of the goal every meeting, you can also do group affirmations. For example, a member can stand up in front of the other members and say, I am now happily earning a <amount> salary. The group can reply Yes, you are now earning a <amount> salary! You could also agree to read a motivational book or article and discuss it at the next meeting to further inspire and motivate one another in achieving your goals. You can also invite a successful, happy person to one of your meetings and let them share their story. 42

With a dream group, the possibilities are endless. You can think up of activities that not only support one another but also contribute to your personal growth. 3. Looking for a mentor or role model is also effective in helping you affirm the qualities that you wish to achieve when you succeed. If you know people who are happy and successful, especially someone with great mind power, then by all means, talk to them! Ask for tips and have them share their secrets to success. They will be more than happy to tell you as helping you succeed is also an indication of their overall success. If you would like your conversations to be held on a regular basis, you can also ask that person to mentor you. Mentors are especially helpful as they can give you valuable insights for decision making or during times of trouble. Advice from your mentor can save you time and effort and also save you from a lot of heartaches. 4. Aside from seeking support from people, you can also support yourself by reading self help or motivational books regularly and attending success seminars. They would be especially helpful if their focus is on mind power and success techniques. All the knowledge and positive energy you get from these books will help you reach your goals. 5. To get further inspiration, you can create your own success notebook. Write down your favorite quotes on success and positive thinking. Compile and paste articles related to success, especially articles about people who made it. This will motivate you and 43

condition your mind to achieve success one step at a time. You can also include poems, other literary works or anything related to success that strikes your fancy. Update your success notebook from time to time and look at it regularly, especially when you are feeling down. If for example you still encounter negative people who bring your energy level down, recite affirmations that will help raise your energy again. Or, you can contact your dream partner or someone close to you for encouragement or to send you positive energy. Bear in mind that you are not alone and that there are many people willing to help you and support you. Learn to seek support from the right people and observe just how much faster your goals are realized! 6. Also remember to support yourself along the way. This means rewarding yourself for good work done. Rewards can provide a fun lift along the way. You can create small weekly or monthly rewards to stay motivated, since every step along the way is a step toward success and worthy of acknowledgment. Give yourself a pat on the back or treat yourself to a gift or nice meal if your progress to success has been good. Getting support is necessary when conditioning your mind for success. Feeling good about yourself and what you have keeps you in a positive mental state at all times. You 44

will then be more receptive to things that may challenge you in the future, making it easier for you to manage and handle them effectively. Having adopted the techniques to condition your mind for success, it is time for you to identify the exact goals you wish to achieve in your life. 45

Chapter 4 Brain2020.com Setting Goals The definition of success varies from person to person. Depending on the goals set and the expectations that one has of him or herself, success can be achieved in various ways. Nonetheless, whatever it is and however it appears to you, success is having reached goals that you have set for yourself. Thus, identifying your true goals in life is necessary in determining your level of success. 4.1 What Are Goals? Before setting goals, you need to know what they are and what they mean to you. So, what exactly are they? Goals are experiences that you have not yet had, places you have not yet been to, people you have not met, a level of income you have not achieved, a type of relationship you are not enjoying now, or having something that you do not currently own. Like your dreams, there is no limit to the number of goals you can set, other than the limits of your imagination. And although goals represent what you intend to achieve in the future, they are always set and worked on in the present. 46

Goals are also specific and measurable results that you want to produce at a determinable time in the future. Your goals are the stepping stones toward the realization of your dreams. Establishing goals will have a positive impact on your life. However, if what you hope to achieve in life is based on your expectations, rather than efforts to reach established goals, then you are setting yourself up for the possibility of disappointment and failure. Expectations deal with how you believe other people should behave and how the world should bend at your command. Take caution that your expectations may result in a large amount of grief, whereas established goals will result in a large amount of satisfaction and success. Differentiating between these 2 reinforces the necessity of setting goals and how goals play a significant impact on your life. The winning choice is clear: develop your goals, drop your expectations. It is a mistake to expect that you will accomplish any goal because you deserve it or because there is something in your past that entitles you to it. Unfortunately, there is no such thing as "deserve" in life. The truth is that you need to work hard and put in effort to get what you desire in the end. As such, what you achieve in life is due to the planning and control that you have in over your life, and not because you have "paid your dues". When you are willing to set goals, your motivation becomes more focused and become less confused in everyday interactions. Setting goals and designing your dreams and aspirations is a commitment to participate in a dynamic relationship and interaction 47

between yourself and others. Committing yourself to a relationship with others helps create an environment of self support. The willingness to define your goals and the aspirations you have provides the motivation you need to focus on achieving your goals. Bear in mind that your willingness to take action and achieve your goals is different from wishing your goals to complete on their own. Wishing, like expecting, is a desire for the possibility of some act or state arbitrarily occurring. This however, will not be true in all situations for each individual. When it comes to making your goals happen, wishing can be self sabotaging. Willingness to do something is a self responsible behavior. As such, when you take conscious control of your life, you actively plan your course or direction. Determining your direction builds positive momentum in your life. Thus, you should always attempt to create positive momentum and enthusiasm in the things you do if you wish to progressively make improvements to your life. Now that you know what goals are and what they should mean to you, the next thing you should to do is choose a goal for yourself that is important to you. If you need to set goals for your career, find a job or profession that is important to you, beyond the bills that it pays. 48

It is vital to your growth as a person that your work is more than just a job to you; that you have a higher purpose for doing what you do. This will give you the drive and motivation you need to achieve your dreams. Instead of viewing your work as a chore, developing a sense of enjoyment and love for your work makes your life more fulfilling. Sometimes, we get into career paths or relationships that are really not what we want and struggle to make them work. As a result, we become frustrated and confused, feeling that we are working for no good purpose. Thus, setting suitable goals for yourself prevents yourself from getting caught in such situations and is essential in helping you develop a clearer path for your personal success. 4.2 Planning Your Goals Goals give us the drive and momentum to challenge ourselves and achieve great things in life. Having them motivate and force us to use our minds the best of our mental abilities to realize our dreams. They also help to harness the power of our subconscious mind, as all thoughts are then narrowed in to focus on achieving success. Thus, your mental power coupled with your innate abilities makes your journey to success an easy one. 49

Goal setting is an ongoing, reciprocal process between you and the world. Being able to accomplish your goals help you overcome inner barriers of fear and affirm your confidence as a successful individual. Planning your goals is not necessarily a mundane process that you will always have to dread doing. This is because goal setting will naturally generate your human need for self drive and accomplishment. This drive for accomplishment is innate and comes from within you. Setting goals complete your entire existence as a human, physically, mentally and emotionally. It enables you to feel more connected to yourself and to the world, making your life on earth more meaningful. Without goals and a direction in life, you will miss out on much potential for experiencing the positive emotions of excitement, aliveness, enthusiasm, joy, and even happiness. Without goals, you can end up living from problem to problem, instead of from opportunity to opportunity. Setting goals will steer you toward opportunities while enabling you to overcome obstacles, and break through barriers necessary for your accomplishments. To be effective in the goal setting process, you must go far beyond the usual ideas of goal setting. There are many things to do when creating goals for yourself. 50

1. Begin by asking yourself questions. What do I want to achieve in life? What are the things in life that matter to me most? What can I do to feel maximum satisfaction in my life? Am I living each day to its fullest? Answers to these questions may not come to you immediately, and may even frustrate or confuse you. However, take time to think through what you desire to achieve in life. Pen down immediate thoughts that come to your mind and gradually list down everything that you think you should and can do. Having your goals clearly listed down on paper helps you define and determine what you want to achieve in life. At this stage, your ideas may either be general ones that you think is possible or specific goals which you know you must have. List down less than 15 goals, be they small or big ones. Your small goals could be ones that you need to accomplish before reaching your ultimate big goal. 2. Reflect on your life. Reflect on the life that you have had and the experiences that you have been through. Think to yourself if there are things that you wished you could do but never dared to. Are there also things you did and wish you could make amendments to? Are there lessons that can be drawn from these experiences to make you a stronger person? Can they help re define your identity and personal goals? 51

If the experiences you had were fulfilling and satisfying, then you would be hoping to achieve similar levels of success in the future. Take note of what you should and should not do to get to where you desire. However, if they were not, avoid such situations again in the future and learn from the mistakes that you have committed. Having this thought process enables you to re evaluate the goals you have for yourself and determine whether or not they work for you. 3. Imagine that you are able to achieve your goals. Visualize it happening and feel the entire experience. Are you sensing lots of happiness and joy or do you feel that something is still missing? After that, re evaluate the goals that you have set out for yourself and see if they should be changed or re prioritized. Record down the differences that you wish to make and visualize if that is the experience you want to feel at the end of your journey. Bear in mind that limiting yourself merely limits your ability to succeed. In other words, you are the master of your own destiny. 4. After going through several though processes, it is important that you start planning the specific goals that you wish to achieve. Your goals must be specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely. This means writing down every goal you have and putting boundaries around them so that you will know when you have achieved those goals. Some goals must be big and some goals must be long range. 52

You need to be able to identify how you can benefit from the goals set. This is because some people often fail to reach their goals because they concentrate too much on the costs rather than the benefits of them. 5. List down the obstacles that stand between you and your goals. Identify obstacles in order to be realistic and avoid being surprised at untimely situations. Many people have experienced times at which they had no idea pursuing their goals were going to be so demanding, require so much effort, take so long, and involve so many unexpected pitfalls. As such, having carefully planned your goals in advance eliminates much of such disappointment. Nonetheless, you must also understand that you cannot always see roadblocks that lie ahead. This is why commitment, attitude, responsibility, and focus on the benefits remain constant necessities and qualities that give you the drive and motivation to continue on your dreams. Patience is also extremely important. Remember, keeping yourself focused on your goals enable you to see the benefits, just the obstacles. 6. When setting your goals, bear in mind that you need to create realistic and obtainable goals. The more effectively you can measure a goal, the more likely you will be able to complete the goal because progress itself is a tremendous encourager. Even though you are not able to see the progress by the day, you will be able to see changes and improvements by the end of the week, or certainly by the end of the month. 53

Many people set goals that are completely out of reach, whereas others set them so low that they represent no challenge. Both approaches are unrealistic. Many people knowingly set impossible goals so that they have a built in excuse for not achieving those goals. This practice is clearly self defeating and one which you must avoid. You must have a realistic chance of reaching a goal, combined with a belief that you will reach it, in order for it to have long range motivational impact. 7. When planning your goals, do incorporate the practice of prioritizing them. Recognize the fact that not all of your daily activities are of equal importance, and that you should instead organize and prioritize them into a working plan. You ought to work your plan in order, from the high priority activities to low priority activities, until all are complete or till you run out of time at the end of the day. If you are as busy as most people, you will find yourself running out of time far more often than you complete your list. However, there is no need to worry as there is always the next day to work with. Nonetheless, it is the number of priority activities that you can complete each day which will determine how many of your goals and dreams you achieve each year. 8. When you are setting the course for your future, ensure that you do it with an open mind. Remember that the opportunities available to you are limitless and plentiful. So 54

avoid restricting yourself and sticking to the same old mindset that you used to have. Remember that change is necessary to make your journey to success an easy one. Take into account that when you commit to a goal, the methods to achieve that goal will gradually appear. When the methods do appear, they may not always look familiar to you. Many people are in the habit of saying "no" to all new experiences. Part of this is due to their preference for working within their comfort zone: "It's new, so don't do it." As such, you need to take caution and break such habits. Implementing new ideas and suggestions as a part of your success plan may sometimes be helpful and better alternatives to your current plan. Alas, saying no to something before we even know what we are saying no to is not always the wisest choice that one should make. This is because being prejudiced against an idea or prejudging it may result in you losing focus of its intended benefit. Yet, human beings do so all the time without even realizing it. Thus, until you consider all sides of the opinion or idea, then should you come to the decision as to whether or not to adopt it as part of your plan. Keeping an open perspective to new experiences will therefore greatly impact and benefit you as you set goals. 9. The goals you set should be set by you alone. In other words, never let other people set goals for you. 55

Ask yourself, do you allow others to set goals that overwhelm you and leave you with feelings of doubt and fear, especially when you fail to reach them? When someone else continually sets goals for you, your sense of self esteem is diminished. On the contrary, you increase your probability of following through on a task when you set the goal yourself. When you set a goal, do not allow others to restrict you by telling you that your goal is unrealistic. You have a choice. You can let their limited vision persuade you by telling yourself that they are right or, you can persuade yourself by using positive self talk that will help you concentrate on fulfilling your goal. Utilizing positive self talk will prepare you for taking the necessary steps to make your goals a reality. 10. Having set your goals, ask yourself if they are the final goals that you wish to achieve at the end. If so, reaffirm yourself by using positive self talk and developing a desire to achieve them. Believe in your ability to reach the goals that you have listed and feel the emotions that you expect to feel when you do succeed. This will give you the opportunity of evaluating your goals and to reinforce the belief you have in yourself. Remember that using your mind s ability to succeed can become a reality if you only belief in yourself. 56

The process of planning your goals may seem like a long and daunting one. However, it is important that you realize the importance of doing so and how it helps guide the way you work towards your success. 4.3 Sticking To Your Values Goals that you set for yourself and the dreams that you wish could come true must be a reflection of who you want to see yourself become. Thus, you need to ask yourself if the goals you set are aligned with your values. Generally, when you reach your dreams, you should be feeling happy and in harmony with your surroundings. However, if your dreams go against your value system, you may feel ill at ease and not be completely happy once you do attain it. When you do not feel particularly comfortable with something that you hope to achieve, go back to your motivations and question yourself. Why did you want that thing in the first place? What was the value behind it? Looking at your hierarchy of values, does it violate any higher value you hold? After examining your motivations, you can now look at your desired outcome. In it, do you see anything happening that compromises or can compromise your values? If you answered yes to any or both of these questions, re examine your dream again. It may just not be worth it. 57

When reaching for your goals, you want to feel certain and know that whatever you are doing is good for you and your future. Thus, ensuring that your actions are aligned with your values is essential to develop the confidence you need within you. When in doubt of things that are taking place or of what you should do, let your inner voice and intuition guide you. Get in touch with your feelings. If the dream is right, you will feel it. If it does not feel right, stop and try to find out why. These questions may also be asked in the course of achieving your dreams. This is because your feelings and circumstances may change along the way, and you may begin to question if what you are doing is right. The important thing is to stop when things do not feel right and give up the dream, if necessary. However if you find yourself on the right track, just keep going! 58

Chapter 5 Brain2020.com The Law Of Attraction The Law of Attraction is a theory based on the principle that you should never dwell on the negative aspects of life. It says that your thoughts influence your destiny. In other words, what you belief and think will eventually become your reality. The law of attraction draws to you thoughts and ideas similar to yours. It attracts people very similar to you in nature, thoughts and deeds. It also attracts corresponding situations and circumstances that befall you. It is this law and power that brings people of similar interests together. Thoughts are great, swift and free. All your thoughts, all the images in your mind and all the feelings connected will therefore eventually manifest as your reality. This theory means that every achievement in your life is what your mind has attracted and created for you. The law of attraction derives its power from the state of your mind. Your conscious and subconscious mind serves as an invisible magnet that draws into your life circumstances and events according to your thoughts. In other words, you have to be extremely cautious in your thoughts as well as your deeds. This is because they could eventually turn into reality. 59

As such, you ought to constantly practice positive mental exercises to inculcate positive thoughts and ideas in you. Optimism is the one quality more associated with success and happiness than any other that you should work towards having. Thus, filling the mind with happy thoughts will always attract happiness into your life, making it easier and more fruitful for you to achieve the success you desire. 5.1 Increasing Your Wealth Increasing your wealth using the law of attraction may seem unbelievable to you at first. However, the way to succeed doing it is no big secret. Here are 3 important steps that you need to carry out to ensure that you are able amass wealth using the law of attraction. 1. You should plan and have well defined objectives. This means having a clear objective how much you actually want in numerical terms. For instance, if you are going in for the investments, then you should have in mind the percentage of returns that you are looking for. It can be 5%, 10% or even 25%. The only thing to note is that you must set a realistic rate of return objective. This will assist you in focusing on the objective, thus allowing you to plan your future accordingly. This also enables you to make the correct decisions to achieve your target. 60

2. You need to possess a positive mental attitude in whatever you are doing. Always be positive in whatever target you want to reach in your financial holdings. Think and start living in an environment of achievement and draw your plans accordingly. This will give you peace of mind and your attitude will automatically be positive. A positive mental attitude will result in you developing a positive outcome. 3. Planning how you wish to achieve your financial goal is essential. In fact, it is the most crucial part of your achievements. You can accomplish only if you have well charted plans. Investments without plans will take you nowhere. So always have ideal and realistic plans before venturing. Your positive attitude along with the law of attraction is only a tool. You have to make use of the tool to manifest the conditions that will make you wealthy. The tool will not create the wealth itself, but it will help you achieve your goal. Thus, your habits will determine your wealthy lifestyle, which in turn will help you to improve your financial position. So use the law of attraction to enhance the way you achieve financial success by reinforcing positive thoughts in your mind. 5.2 Success In Life The meaning of success varies from each individual, thus no one can tell you what success is for you. Neither can you chase success or run after it. Instead, you have to be 61

patient, work hard and allow success to gradually reach you as your effort pays off. This means that success needs time and planning to accomplish. After planning for your success, you have to actually work hard to achieve it. Success, in the context of the law of attraction, entails abundance. Abundance here does not mean mere monetary gain or instant fame, but goes much deeper. The law gives you maximum happiness in relation to your career, your finances and your life in general. The philosophy asks us to approach life from a different viewpoint. The law of attraction asks us to examine our inner self. It also tells us to unscramble the unconscious mind and recognize the true intention of living. To do so, we need to listen to our inner voice and feelings, and allow them to guide us along the way. The law will assist you in realizing your true potential. It is because the doctrine distinguishes you from outside environmental factors and encourages concentration of the mind. Meditation and affirmations are two proposed means by which the law will contribute to success in your life. The law also says that success entails defeating negative influences in life through the ability of thought. In other words, the power of your mind. This is possible because if you preserve a positive position and composure of mind and do not give in to negative states or thoughts, you can rise above your problems. This is so because positive 62

thinking and listening to the law creates a sense of preparedness. This gives you the strength to face challenges. This will therefore help you to overcome fear and your negative thoughts will disappear. The law also tells us that if you want what you desire in life, then you have to apply the true secret of the law of attraction. We have to work on how we feel. It might seem to be a challenge at first, but is possible for us to change our negative thoughts into positive ones. This is what will bring success in our lives. To achieve success in life using the law of attraction, there are several things that you need to be aware of and do. 1. Recognizing the law of attraction is the most crucial step. Whatever has happened in your life was attracted to you by the law of attraction. It may have been intentionally or accidentally. Thus, you have to realize this as it will give you the power to change. So, remember not to complain about anything bad happening in your life. This is because the more you complain, the more you will start attracting the bad event, the subject of your complaint, to you. 2. Setting clear, realistic and attainable goals are important. As mentioned previously, they should also be measurable and timely. 63

The law of attraction is a tool to get what your want. Use it properly and you will surely succeed in your life. 3. Imagine what you want in your life and live with those imaginations. Visualize by creating pictures of what you want and feel the emotions that accompany them. This is the stepping stone to success through the law of attraction. 4. You need to feel the success that you wish to achieve everyday. The law of attraction is not just visualization. It also involves sending thoughts and emotions that attract what you want for the whole day. Thus, you need to stay in a positive environment and remind yourself about what you want regularly. 5. Try to share your aims with people who are influenced by your goals. This will create an environment in which they will also attract your goals for you. If you have people around you who attract goals for you, then you can attract what you want faster and easily too. It is amazing how the law of attraction can have such significant impacts on one s life and determine his or her success. Thus, by possessing the correct mindset and practicing the suggested exercises, achieving success in your life by the law of attraction will be easily attained. 64

The thoughts and emotions you posses greatly influence what you achieve in life. As such, positively using your mind s power will help you transform your life into a successful one. Realize the potential of your mind and allow it to be a tool for you to achieve the success you desire. 65

Conclusion Success in life will not come to you just like that. You need to work hard and possess the correct attitude to generate your desired outcome. Recognize that the level of success you attain and how fulfilling your life becomes depends on your conscious and subconscious thoughts. Hence, it is essential that you harness the power of your mind fully to enable it to work for you. Understanding the power of your mind and conditioning your mind for success prepares your mind to achieve success in the future. In addition, you also need to plan your goals well and use positive energy to attract the outcome that you desire. Thus, by practicing the techniques and carrying out the exercises suggested in this Ebook, you will be guided and set on the right path towards achieving success in your life. They will help you replace distorted thoughts with more optimistic ones that can expand and enhance the use of your mind. Finally, fulfill your dreams and reach your goals by increasing your mental power with this Ebook. Enjoy! 66
