5 General Ophthalmology In Outpatient Clinics, I am trained in Evaluating patients with various Ophthalmological problems in the OP along with investigating and preparing them before surgery During my post graduation in ophthalmology I have done a number of cataract surgeries. Since I had a long term rotation in cornea during my residency I have dealt with a myriad spectrum of corneal conditions with many cases of corneal ulcers it being very prevalent among the rural population of South India.I have done around 25 penetrating keratoplasties for corneal ulcer patients and have also done a number of Pterygiums with amniotic membrane and conjunctival autografts,i have also been trained in C3R for keratokonus. I have also done numerous trabeculectomies, enucleations,eviscerations,dacryocystectomies and tarsorrhaphies during my rotation in various specialities.. I have also assisted in a number of squint and vitreo retinal surgeries. During our first year of post graduation we completed short term rotations in various departments affliated to ophthalmology like neurology,neurosurgery and diabetology MEDICAL VITREO RETINA I have been well trained and have first hand experience in diagnosing various vitreo retinal diseases.i have done a good number of lasers including PRP,grid and LIO.I have also given intravitreal injections and have good experience in investigative procedures like FFA,OCT,USG and UBM I have been trained in treating various medical retinal conditions like diabetic retinopathy,armd,retinal vascular diseases and other macular conditions. I have also been trained in ROP screening and have done few ROP lasers. I also actively took part in journal clubs and in teaching and training post graduates,short term laser trainees and nursing students. Three years of general ophthalmology training was at the Regional Institute Of Ophthalmology,Madras Medical college,madras which I secured after a competitive All India Entrance Examination. I obtained my MS degree at the end of my training by submission of dissertation and post-graduate examination(2012). I developed an interest in Medical vitreo retina,i was intrigued by the numerous people loosing their vision due to diabetes and other systemic and local conditions affecting the retina. I gained entry into a fellowship training in medical retina after an interview at the Aravind Eye Hospital And Post-graduate institute,coimbatore.for one year I was trained in the various aspects of medical vitreo retina with a short course in uvea. Further, I spent another 12 months as a consultant there. I strive to maintain very high standards in my clinical and administrative practice. I am very keen in updating myself and take part in CME, and journal club activities. I regularly update myself with all retina guidelines and use them to my practice. I regard myself a very good team player. I have excellent relationship with my colleagues, staff and patients. I enjoy good health and play the piano. In summary, I have worked for the last 7 years in various ophthalmological specialities and the last 2 years in medical retina only.. I have kept good medical records of my patients throughout my career which allows me to learn through my experience.
