2 Who we are Established in marks our 30 th Anniversary! Mandate National centre supporting physical activity (PA) for older adults. National coordinating and accreditation for CCAA's community-based PA programs and services for older adults. Support, encourage and disseminate nationally research into an active lifestyle for older adults, and to act as a resource organization on PA and aging.
3 What does CCAA offer? Innovative health and aging research Evidence-informed leadership and senior fitness instructor programs Physical activity program delivery to older adults Experiential learning opportunities and placements for students

5 Engaging older adults in PA Single most important thing we can help older people to do is become engaged in a physical activity in a simple and easy way as part of their lifestyle to help them maintain their overall functional mobility to age in place The only way to maintain function is to engage in movements that keep the body moving After the age of 25 we all start to loose about 1% of our S, B, F and CR fitness this loss is per year and has significant functional implications. But through PA and exercise we can maintain or help restore functional potential

Programs that are geared to ability and not age and programs that targeted to specific outcomes and can be followed through in a cost effective manner and simple to disseminate
