2 Intent and Overview This course will provide evaluation and critique of the state of the art care in the treatment of the vascular patient for the primary care provider, interventionalist and the surgeon. It continues to focus on new developments in technology as well as surgical techniques and will highlight the controversies as well as accepted practices for this surgery. Objectives Following completion of the program, participants should be able to: > Explain the current standards of care for wound healing, the best treatment of varicose veins and peripheral artery ischemic syndromes. > Identify and distinguish the various aspects of a modern vascular medical and surgical practice. > Delineate the optimal treatment for patients with claudication, abdominal aortic aneurysms, thoracic aortic diseases and carotid artery stenosis. Who Should Attend This course is designed for General and Vascular Surgeons, Cardiac Surgeons, Interventional Cardiologists, General Practitioners of Internal Medicine and Family Practice and other health care professionals. Continuing Education Credit The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 7.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
