In the fourth quarter ended Aug. 30, 2016, Walgreens Boots Alliance reported GAAP net earnings increased to $1.0 billion or $0.95 per share on a diluted basis on sales of $28.6 billion. Sales increased 2.5 percent compared to the fourth quarter of 2015, and earnings rose from $0.02 in the year-ago period. For fiscal 2016 net earnings decreased 1.1 percent to $4.2 billion or $3.82 per diluted share compared to Sales for the same period increased 13.4 percent to $117.4 billion compared to 2015, an increase attributed to the inclusion of Alliance Boots results and an increase at Retail Pharmacy USA. Walgreens merged with Alliance Boots in December 2014.
