2 THE CLEANSE SCHEDULE DAY 1 CANTALOUPE Consume only ripe cantaloupe for the day. DAY 2 WATERMELON Consume only ripe watermelons for the day. DAY 3 CONSUME: PAPAYA until noon WATER with LEMON & HONEY until 2:00 pm WATER without additions until 3:30 pm WATER with LEMON & HONEY until 5:00 pm PAPAYA until bed DAY 4 WATERMELON Consume only ripe watermelons for the day. DAY 5 CANTALOUPE Consume only ripe cantaloupe for the day. You are what you eat. And the ions of the pranic energy of other what you eat. 3 ABOUT THIS CLEANSE This cleanse is built as a palindrome, working through various stages of cleansing and rejuvenation and back again to create deep hydration and health. It works organ to organ to detox and heal. When done correctly, this diet is easy and pleasurable. And if you really want to clean your body...we start with melon and then watermelon and it is organ to organ. That s a fast. That s a real yogic fast. It won t hurt. I won t harm. It will make you young. It will give you all what you need. Melon will first take care of your calcium, potassium and all that and magnesium all that. Watermelon takes care. When you start with a papaya, you get your brain and serum and all that will be okay. Yogi Bhajan HOW TO PREPARE PREPARE FOR THIS CLEANSE by hydrating and eating lightly for three to seven days before hand. REMOVE heavy foods from your diet, especially cutting back on dairy, meat, fast foods, or anything that makes you feel weighed down or is slow to digest. CUT BACK on caffeinated and sweetened drinks. Supplement with tea and juices for the duration of the pre-cleanse. PULL OUT any artificial, packaged and high sugar foods and snacks from your daily fair. Consume mostly fruits and vegetables, cooked or raw, and drink plenty of water.
4 YOUR DETOX DO S AND DON TS DO massage the body with almond oil regularly to neutralize toxins leaving through the skin and keep the body warm with fresh blood circulation. DO sprinkle SALT on your melons to increase electrolytes in the body and cellular communication, and PEPPER to reduce bloating and gas. DO eat as much as you need and as often as you require. It will keep your brain working and your neurochemistry happy. DO stretch, breath, practice light yoga and go for walks. DO practice self-kindness and be aware when you need rest, extra down time, or just some self affirmation. Self-sweetness is the most important leap in enlightened consciousness. DON T substitute with other melons, supplements, green powders, oil, fats or nuts. Though simple, this detox is actually a sophisticated design for deep healing, detox, and rejuvenation. Melons other than those listed here and supplements (even though healthy) will not deliver the same potent medicinal effect and will interrupt with detoxing. DON T include coffee, tea or juice as part of this cleanse. This cleanse is about cellular hydration. For the duration of this detox, drink water, with lemon and honey if desired. DON T attempt to continue any heavy weightlifting, high-heart rate cardio vascular or strenuous activity during the cleanse. Light stretching, pranayam and waking are best. You may resume your regular workout routine and schedule more physical activities post-cleanse. We believe fasting and feasting is a very unique situation. Yogi Bhajan
5 DETOX TIPS IF YOU FEEL TOO UNGROUNDED eat more. This cleanse is not about caloric restriction. Please consume as much as you need. IF YOU FEEL BORED change up the flavors by adding salt, pepper, lime juice, mint leaves, blending your melon into a smoothie or cutting it into unique shapes. Even new ways of slicing the fruit will change the way the flavors hit your palate. IF YOU EXPERIENCE CLEANSE SYMPTOMS like cramping, blood pressure or heart rate change or distention, add salt and pepper to reduce bloating and increase cell communication. Drink water with salt and lemon. IF YOU FEEL NOW WAS NOT THE RIGHT TIME TO CLEANSE Though we encourage you to push past resistances and clear old energy around food, if the detox is triggering old eating disorder issues or bringing you to a place where you do not have enough emotional support support to push through, please stop the cleanse. Transition off as slowly as you can, introducing other fruits first, and then vegetable and grains shortly after. Eating for the taste, eating for digestion, eating for socialization, eating for convincing people, eating for showoff, eating for being macho, eating is not a one aspect, it has many facets to it. 6 TRANSITIONING OFF THE CLEANSE BE GRADUAL Start by introducing other fruits. After a day, add yogurt and/or vegetables. After two to three days, you may incorporate grains and nuts. STAY SENSITIVE Test new foods with subtle awareness. How does it energetically feel? How does your body respond? Listen for the clear messages. EMBRACE THE SHIFT Your entire psyche has just adjusted. Revel in the wealth of it. SLOWLY include oils, fats and supplements. After three to five days you should be able to eat more liberally while staying in tune with your energy bodies and bio-individual needs.
7 POST CLEANSE RECIPES DAY 1 MIND OF SUPREME SWEETNESS SALAD 1 mango, sliced juice of 1 small lime ½ cucumber, sliced 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil ½ red onion, finely chopped ¼ teaspoon fine sea salt 3 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper In a bowl, combine all ingredients and mix gently. Enjoy immediately. INVINCIBLE SMOOTHIE ½ banana Handful of fresh mint 1 cup arugula 1 cup coconut water 1 cup cubed pineapple (fresh or frozen) 1 lime (juice) Blend together all the ingredients until smooth. Enjoy refreshingly DAY 2 ELECTRO MAGNETIC BLACK CHOLEY TABOULI 3 bunches finely chopped flat leaf parsley 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil 1 cup chopped fresh mint 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice 1/2 cup - 3/4 cup black garbanzo beans salt and pepper to taste 1 chopped firm tomato 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper 1/2 onion or 2 scallions chopped (optional) Prepare the chopped parsley and mint and set aside. In a large bowl, mix black garbanzo, chopped tomatoes, chopped onions and scallions with lemon juice, salt and pepper. Add to them the parsley and mint and olive oil and mix, adjusting seasoning by adding more oil and lemon if desired. Serve cold garnished with romaine lettuce. Tabouli made with black choley, black garbanzo. Normally it is crushed wheat. Normally it is crushed wheat, but crushed wheat can give you something which you don t need. Therefore you should substitute with black choley. It s called black garbanzos. Black garbanzos control electromagnetic field of the body. It s the most powerful food in the world. Yogi Bhajan
8 YOGI BHAJAN S MUST HAVE TO LIVE SMOOTHIE FORMULA 8 ounces watermelon or melon juice 1/4 banana 7 skinned almonds Blend all the ingredients into a smooth, creamy consistency. These are few things; if you live without them you better not live. These are few little formulas. Yogi Bhajan DAY 3 YOGI BHAJAN S PARSLEY PILAU (serves 4-6) 1 cup basmati rice 1 teaspoon ground red pepper 1 cup parsley (or add more to taste) 2 cups chopped potatoes (with skin) 1 tablespoon turmeric 2 onions 1 teaspoon black pepper 2 teaspoons oregano seeds 2 crushed bay leaves 1/2 cup ghee Sauté onions in ghee. Add spices and cook until browned, then add rice, potatoes, parsley and stir. Add water (to steam the rice), cover, and cook for 15 minutes. SUBLIME SUMMER PANCAKES WITH SALAD (serves 2) Pancake: 1 medium sized sweet potato (cooked) ½ cup gluten-free oat flour ½ teaspoon grey sea salt or pink Himalayan salt Olive oil Peel and mash sweet potato in a medium bowl. Add oat flour and salt, and combine. Ball the mixture into 2 spheres, about 4 inches each. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Cook the cakes for 2 minutes per side, or until nicely browned and warmed through. Summer salad: 1/4 red onion, thinly sliced 1 tablespoon lemon juice 1/2 avocado, sliced 2 tablespoons olive oil 1 ½ cups mescaline salad (or any favorite green) grey or pink salt, to taste For the summer salad: combine red onion, lemon juice, olive oil, and a large pinch of salt in a medium bowl. When the pancakes are complete, serve with a handful of salad and slices on avocado on each.
