St Catherine of Siena T: 9743 2166 E: principal@scmeltonwest.catholic.edu.au W: www.scmeltonwest.catholic.edu.au NEWSLETTER Term 3, Week 1 July 11th 2016 Dear Families Reflection Reader: Let us love the Lord, our God. (Pause) Reader: Let us love the Lord with all our hearts. (Pause) Reader: Let us love the Lord, our God, with all our spirit. (Pause) Reader: Let us love the Lord, our God, with all our strength. (Pause) Reader: Let us love the Lord, our God, with all our minds. (Pause) Reader: We ask this through Jesus, your Son, our Lord. All: Amen. Welcome back, I hope that you have all been able to have some down time relaxing with family and friends over the school holiday period. On Wednesday July 23rd we celebrate the Feast of St Ann and St Joachim, Jesus Grandparents, with Grandparents Day. The day will begin with Mass at : during Mass Fr Michael will offer the Sacrament of Anointing to those who would like to receive it. If you would like to receive the Sacrament of Anointing we ask that you sit at the front of the church in the side section on the right of the altar. After Mass children will be in family groups so that grandparents and significant family members can be with all grandchildren. This will be followed by morning tea. After morning tea, you are invited to enjoy a concert with items performed by students from all year levels. We hope that all grandparents can join us, however we understand that it is not always possible for grandparents to be with us so we extend the invitation to family members and significant people in the children's lives. In the afternoon many children wait between the CRC exit gate and the school crossing for family members to pick them up. This area is quite congested, difficult to supervise, dangerous with the amount of cars in the area and does not allow a clear path for other pedestrians who need access to the footpath. All children who are waiting to be picked up in this area will now need to wait under the porch at the chapel entry. This area is inside the school grounds, will be supervised and will also allow other users free access to the footpath. Last term all families were invited to offer their suggestions on the 2 draft Vision Statements. Thank you to all families who have returned their responses. Our Vision Statement is a vital document as it defines who we are as a school community, should be a vital part of our decision making process and also differentiate us from other school communities. It is important that all school community members have had the opportunity to offer feedback and suggestions into this process. Next Wednesday we will be finalising our work on this document so if you have not yet sent your suggestions in and would like to do so, please have them in at the office by Monday 18th July so they can be included with all other submissions. Best Wishes for a great week, Carmel Marantelli PRINCIPAL 20th July 27th July 28th July 1st August 5th August Upcoming Events Yr 5 excursion - Grandparents Day Yr 5 excursion - CERES Yr 1 excursion - Yr 4 excursion -

While I understand the difficulties in finding adequate parking I ask all parents to follow parking restrictions and consider the rights of residents in the surrounding suburbs and their need to access their own property. Local residents should not be blocked from entering or leaving their own property due to congested parking. Please be mindful of this at both pick up and drop off times. Grandparents Day 27th July On Wednesday 27th July we celebrate Grandparents Day to acknowledge the special place grandparents and significant family members have in the lives of our children. The day will begin with Mass at. After Mass children will be in family groups so that grandparents and family members can be with all of their family. After some time in class we will have morning tea and then conclude the celebration with a concert which will finish at approximately 12:45pm. We encourage you all to put this date in your diaries and invite grandparents and family members to this celebration.
