Chamber of Commerce Meeting July 5th, 2017 Present:, Erica Hansen, Janene Hill, Jeanne Jons Jeanne Jons, Joelle Knott, Carol Loschen, Simon McKenzie, Kim Snavely, Conner Peterson Dawn Thompson and Chamber Director Marcia Davis. Absent: Dena Beck, Kevin Krull, and Natalie Janda were absent. Meeting was called to order at 12:10 p.m. by Vice President Joelle Knott. Dawn Thompson moved to approve the Secretary minutes and current Treasurer s report as submitted. Kim Snavely second, motion approved. Old Business I. All Class Reunion There were no new updates on the All Class Reunion.. II. Street Dance - Marcia Davis presented a financial recap of the 2017 Street Dance Event. Attendance and beer sales were down for 2017 which resulted in a loss of $1,200.00 for the event. Discussion was held what might be done to increase the attendance for future events. Almost every weekend in the summer has some type of conflict. It was suggested that offering pre-sale tickets might be a way of increasing attendance and spurring additional interest in the event. Everyone agreed that this could be something for the committee to think about for next year. III. July 4th Fireworks Marcia Davis reported that the event was well attended. The crowd was much bigger than a year ago. Volunteers collected $1,110.00 in donations at the gates which will be used towards next year s celebration. IV. Thursday Night Entertainment Marcia reported that week one of the entertainment was not well attended, but she has high hopes for the coming events. She asked chamber members to spread the word about the upcoming Thursday events. V. Deal of the Week The campaign continues. The current deal of the week is at Fill n Chill, $5.00 off on a 12 Sub. VI. Community BBQ - The July 19th event will begin at 5:30 p.m. Marcia passed around a sign-up sheet for help with the event. Help is needed for set-up, serving and clean-up. Board Members were asked to sign up and to ask others within their organizations to help as well. Marcia can be contacted at the Chamber Office for more information if needed. Based on the bids received, the meat will be purchased from Fritz s Meats in Holdrege and Mason s Market will provide all the other items needed for the BBQ. New Business I. Marcia reported 2 new chamber memberships, this past month. This brings our total in membership dues up to $23,000.00 for 2017. II. Marcia reported that the 2017 Car Show has been set for August 19th, 2017. She reminded Board members that she will need help with the event. Committees: I.
