5 Chamber of Commerce Meeting CHAMBER BOARD MEETING MINUTES April 4, :00 pm Minden Opera House Present: Joelle Knott, Erika Hansen, Kevin Krull, Marcy Brandt, Marcia Davis, Amy Fuqua, Natalie Janda, Simon McKenzie, Rebecca Thornburg, Dawn Thompson, Kirk Peterson Absent: Connor Peterson, Kim Snavely Business Meeting: Called to Order at 12:10 pm. Approval of March Secretary & Treasurer s Reports Erika Hansen moved that we approve the minutes and treasurer s reports. Marcy noted that the roll call for the last meeting was incorrect. It needs to be changed to reflect that Amy Fuqua and Kim Snavely were present. Dawn Thompson seconded the motion with changes made. All voted in favor. Old Business: Blue Jeans & BBQ summary Improvements for next year: Connor and Dawn both had some feedback regarding the food. Next year we might have South Side cater to spread out the opportunity. Having servers went very well and kept the line moving quickly. It was good to have board members front and center to greet people and serve. Bar service seemed to be a little slow, but no serious complaints. Overall set up worked well, aside from the banner blocking the air conditioning vents. Event will end up making money. Dog Days Celebration June 23 The band will be charging $1,800 and will have signed contract soon. Joelle will be working on securing the rain insurance. Golf tournament will be 18 holes instead of 9 now. There will need to be some flag prizes recruited and donated. Cornhole boards are starting to sell. We hope to get 10 and there are 7 verbal commitments and 1 sold. Owen Bridges is doing the vinyl and Nick Hanson is building the boards, they look great. Partnership recruitment Marcia sent an reminder to all non-renewing businesses on Monday. A few more keep coming in. So far in 2018 we ve received $19,400 in dues (92 partners, 2 trades). Last year at the beginning of April $18,500 (84 partners) had been received for partnership dues. New Business: Quarterly Lunch misprint in the newsletter. Lunch is in April not March Teacher/Member appreciation breakfast Friday, April :30 am at Windmill. Downtown revitalization we can maybe try and find ways to assist the businesses on the west side of the square once the sidewalk project starts happening. How that looks will be discussed as it gets closer. Kevin moved to adjourn at 12:40. Kirk seconded. All voted in favor.
