We said Bon Voyage to Mr Hall on Thursday as he begins the first leg of his leave with an educational sabbatical to the West Coast of Canada. We wish him all the very best and look forward to hearing of his adventures upon his return. I would like to take this opportunity to encourage parents and guardians of Year 7, 9 and 12 students to please book appointments for next Wednesday s Parent-Teacher interviews. Interviews provide all stakeholders with opportunities to align goals and expectations whilst also providing invaluable feedback to guide academic progression. Interviews are most productive when students are also present, so I encourage all students to please attend with their parents. Finally, I am very thankful to the College community to be given the opportunity to be Acting Principal of our wonderful College in Mr Hall s absence - I am very much looking forward to the experience. Page 6 Wednesday, 4 April: Ms Markham s Year 11 Psychology students were lucky to have Clinical Forensic Psychologist Ms Tara Sita visit their class. Ms Sita has just completed her Ph.D. She holds double degrees in Criminal Forensics and Psychology. Tara spoke to students about the varying areas of psychology for study, the many categories of mental illness and the symptoms which help to make a diagnosis. She stressed how students must look after their own mental health and how to look out for the warning signs of depression in themselves and others. How simple exercise, improving your diet or making contact with family and friends can help halt the downward spiral. Students asked many questions and Tara answered them giving examples from her own experiences. She encouraged students to further their studies in psychology whether this be through a university pathway, via online study or community courses. Ms Markham thanked Tara for taking the time to visit the College and for her informative talk. (Mrs Parker)
