Prof. Martin Krix, Bracco Imaging, Konstanz, 10.00-10.20 EFSUMB CEUS Liver Guidelines - Prof. David Cosgrove The evolving CEUS Guidelines are introduced with the mechanism of production explained, in particular the enormous effort that goes into producing these guidelines by a large group of experts. 10.20-10.40 Malignant Focal Liver Lesions - Dr. Hans-Peter Weskott Malignant focal liver lesions: B-mode, colour Doppler imaging and contrast enhanced ultrasound criteria, typical cases will be presented. 10.40-11.00 Hepatocellular Carcinoma: Current Imaging Guidelines - Prof. Fabio Piscaglia Ultrasonography is the recommended method of surveillance in patients with cirrhosis for early diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), occuring in 2-5% per year. CEUS is able to display the internal vascularization of any nodules, leading to the ability to establish a diagnosis of HCC, achievable in the same patient session. Moreover, when the conclusive typical findings of HCC are not present, CEUS has superb ability to suggest that a nodule is benign or malignant. The lecture will illustrate how to correctly interpret CEUS information for focal lesion in cirrhosis. 11.00-11.20 Break 11.20-11.50 Benign Focal Liver Lesions - Dr. Hans-Peter Weskott Benign focal liver lesions: B-mode, colour Doppler imaging and contrast ehanced ultrasound CEUS criteria, typical cases will be presented. 11.50-12.20 Potential Conundrums of Hypervascular Lesions - Prof. Adrian Lim The potential pitfalls in characterising the hypervascular lesion, particularly in patients with a background of known malignancy or significant chronic liver disease will be discussed. 12.20-12.40 Imaging Management of Incidental Focal Liver Lesions - Dr. Suzanne Ryan The evaluation of the focal liver lesion, both benign and malignant will be discussed, with particular emphasis on the problem solving imaging technique. Additionally intra-cavity CEUS plays a role in the assessment of the interna architecture of an abscess. 15.00-15.20 Gallbladder and Biliary Disease - Dr Hans-Peter Weskott Inflammatory changes of the gallbladder wall, benign and malignant tumors, contrast enhanced ultrasound in bile duct pathology. 15.20-15.40 Quantitative Measurement: Techniques and Challenges - Dr Robert Eckersley A discussion of the potential and limitations of contrast enhanced ultrasound imaging for quantitative measurement of blood flow. Particular attention will be paid to practical approaches and the avoidance of common pitfalls. 15.40-16.00 Break 16.00-16.30 Aorta and EVAR - Prof. Dirk-Andre Clevert CEUS plays an important role in the assessment of aortic disease particular in the detection of complications following EVAR procedures. 16.30-17.00 Carotid Disease - Prof. Dirk-Andre Clevert The early usefulness of CEUS in the assessment of vessel narrowing has been documented, with further advances in plaque neo-vascularization stratifying risk factors. Dr. James Pilcher Consultant Radiologist, St George s Hospital Dr. Gibran Tim Yusuf Senior Radiology Fellow Kings College Hospital, London, Dr. Hans-Peter Weskott Central Ultrasound Dept Klinikum Region Hannover, Klinikum Siloah, Hannover, Dr. Robert Eckersley Senior Lecturer in Biomedical Engineering at King s College London Prof. Dirk-Andre Clevert Institut fu r Klinische Radiologie, Ludwig Maximilian Universitaẗ Klinikum der Universitaẗ Mu nchen, 17.00-17.30 Interesting Cases: an interactive quiz - Whole faculty 19.30-22.30 Course Dinner
