Learner needs will be developed through direct instruction in a one-on-one teaching environment several hours per week utilizing the methods of Applied Behavior Analysis. In addition, this service affords daily opportunity to effectively teach children across environments like DTT (Discrete Trial Training), Play and Community settings. The program will target skill areas. The instruction will be imparted by well trained instructors & supervised directly by BACB Certified Professionals. EARLY INTENSIVE BEHAVIORAL INTERVENTION (EIBI) The EIBI program is based on our belief Autism is Treatable. There is enough evidence to support the fact that with supervised ABA & EIBI, 20% of children with no cognitive difficulties can recover from Autism. This group will target children between years. INTENSIVE LANGUAGE PROGRAM (ITT) 2 HRS DAILY This is a Language training program conducted in one-on-one sessions. All language targets will be based on family lifestyle & background, & Individualized to be Functional and programmed for Generalization. This program with be based on latest scientific research using ABA for social skills training.

OUR POSITION HOW ARE WE DIFFERENT? 4 Analysis (1997, Dublin: University College Dublin Press), Parents Education as Autism Therapists: Applied Behaviour Analysis in Context (2000, London: Jessica Kingsley Publishers), and Applied Behaviour Analysis and Autism (2005, London: Jessica Kingsley Publishers). Dr Dillenburger is Coordinator for BACB Approved Continuing Education Provider Organsiation. Dr.Rebecca Ward, PhD ABA Dr. Rebecca Ward is a clinical psychologist and the Clinical Coordinator for the Centre for Applied Disability Studies at Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. She has 30 years experience in the behavioural assessment and treatment of children with autism spectrum disorders and developmental disabilities. She is responsible for teaching the Supervised ABA Practicum course and other ABA courses. Dr. Ward s areas of research interest include: 1. The Prospective Study of Infants At-risk for Autism where she and principal investigators Dr. Jeanette Holden (Queens University, Canada) and Dr. Maurice Feldman (Brock University) are investigating developmental outcomes for infant siblings of children who have diagnoses of autism. They are developing strategies for very early intervention for those infants at-risk who may be showing early signs of ASD. 2. International Development of ABA. In collaboration with community partners in Canada (Autism Ontario) and other researchers abroad, she is looking to build on a model of parent training developed in Ireland by Dr. Korola Dillenburger, Queens University, and Mickey Keenan, University of Ulster, that would make ABA more readily accessible to families who currently have little access to ABA services for their children with autism. 3. Social Thinking to Social Skills. Following in the clinical work of Michelle Garcia Winner ( this new area of research for Dr. Ward will focus on the teaching of social thinking and its generalization to social skills in daily living for children and adolescents with high functioning autism (HFA) and Asperger s Disorder. Founder & Managing consultant Smita Awasthi, BCBA, PhD Candidate in ABA Smita Awasthi completed her Masters in Psychology in 1983, a Post Graduate Diploma in Counseling in 1984 from India. She then completed ABA Courses from Univ of North Texas, USA in 2005 to become the first Board Certified Behavior Analyst in India. Presently, she is pursuing a PhD at Queen s University, Belfast, Ireland as an external student. Smita Awasthi is the Founder President of ABA India a National not for profit, Non Govt Organization which is advancing the science of ABA in India. She has pioneered the ABA movement in India and is involved with Advocacy, Training, Mentoring & Application of ABA Principles in the field of Education, Developmental Disabilities & Autism in India & the region. She is involved with networking to develop ABA in OBM in India.

She has been involved with Dissemination of ABA in various regions in India & has presented more than 45 workshops between , in various places in India. Suruchi Sancheti, MS, BCBA Dr. G. Shilpa Rao, MBBS, DCH, DSE, Developmental Pediatrician CENTER DIRECTOR Kinnari Bhatt, ABA & VB Professional Case Manager / Lead Therapist Senior Therapist Therapists O.T OUR PLANNING Since each child s needs are UNIQUE we will tailor our goals accordingly, IEP s will be made in collaboration with families & scientific assessments of ABLLS & VB-MAPP OUR MONITORING Progress reviews in all domains of training will be data based. All Challenging Behaviors will be analyzed using ABA methodologies, implemented & monitored. PARENT TRAINING Parent collaboration and training will be an on-going part of the way things will be at our Institute. Parents will participate to ensure Generalization of skills at home as well as home based management.

OUR APPROACH Applied Behavior Analysis & Verbal Behavior methodology will be practiced in all areas of training. Discrete Trial Training, Natural Environment Training, Self help Skills Training, Behavior Modification, Group Training for Mainstreaming & empirically validated Social Skills training. Our programs focus on Language skills. The science of ABA will be used to develop programs for haircutting, nail cutting & transitioning problems. Field trips will be planned (future plan), for training children to visit markets / restaurants etc Other variables considered by us & which differentiate us are a) training of the staff member supervised by BCBA / BCBA-D b) quality of data collection c) frequency of program modification d) structure maintained within each session e) educational & experiential background of those overseeing program. INTENSITY OF SERVICES Applied Behavioral Academy relies on ABA literature, which supports need for intensive ABA services for children. Children severely impacted by autism require a minimum of hrs / week. We employ latest ABA findings in crafting personalized programs and work with the family & other treatment providers to develop a program of appropriate intensity. CONSUMER AWARENESS Individuals with autism, their families, psychiatrist, pediatricians and others, have a RIGHT to know whether Persons who claim to be Qualified ABA practitioners Have necessary competencies? Are approved by BACB for practicing ABA or have studied ABA at University? Can be held accountable for providing quality service? (Ex: by being asked to show how - data based decisions are made or interventions selected?) Seek consent before using least restrictive alternatives to deal with difficult behaviors. Due to individual diversity in the autism spectrum consumers need to focus on the match - Between their child s needs and the specific competencies of a particular provider.

WHAT IS ABA? APPLIED BEHAVIOR ANALYSIS Applied Behavior Analysis is a science in which behaviors are observed systematically and measured before careful manipulations to achieve meaningful changes in an individual s life. There have been innumerable well controlled studies published in literature documenting ABA s effectiveness with learners with autism (Matson et al, 1996). The first study showing effectiveness of an IBI was in Many studies focused on learner s behavior, therapist & parent behavior during academic & social interactions. Some studies explored long term effect of intensive teaching. Some challenged myths that children with autism could not lead meaningful lives. Some recent researches are documenting recovery from symptoms. Howard et al (2005) compared ABA treatment with different treatments used in early intervention below 3 years. The study showed significant improvement in children on an EIBI program although all children were at same level at intake. A study by Eikeseth et al (2002), on children between 4-7 year old, receiving intensive behavioral intervention, showed large gains across skill areas (i.e. cognitive, visual spatial, language & adaptive behavior skills) as compared to those who received intensive eclectic treatments. Thus at Applied Behavior Academy, latest researches in ABA, in all areas of training will be referred to. Recent advancements in research in areas of social skills, observational learning, play, perspective taking, direct instruction, to improve deficit skills like academics or language and reduce behavioral excesses like self stim behaviors will be referred to.
