2 Effect of summer sprays Borax on the content of Golden delicious apple fruits of boron, and their storage capacity Hassan Obaid ABSTRACT The study was conducted at the Ein Al arab research center of Dahr Al Jabal in Al Swidaa, during the season of 003 and 004, in order to study the effect of Borax summer sprays on the fruit content of boron using two concentrations 05% and % in addition to the control The boron content in fruits were analyzed and stored at Al Maze cold storage unit under the normal storage condition 0- C, 93% RH, to find out some effects of Borax sprays on fruit weight loss, firmness, starch, and soluble solids content before and during the storage Analysis of variance indicated that there was significant difference in boron content in fruits, which increased with the concentration, that led to a significant positive effect on storage ability of apple fruits, via reduction in fruit weight loss, and by increase the fruit firmness compared to control Key words Boron, Summer foliage sprays, Storage ability, Apple fruits, Golden delicious Associate Prof Department of Horticulture Science, Faculty of agriculture, University of Damascus, POBox 306, Syria 68
