2 Introduction In former times you had different techniques for the local treatment of rectal tumors wich had a high post-surgical morbid-mortality. In order to solve this situation it is necessary to perform more radical techniques like anterior lower resection or rectal amputation. With this in mind, the Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery was invented in the 80 s and gained interest. This new minimal-invasive technique allows an optimal dissection, cutting, coagulation and suturing under vision and offers several advantages. With the system from Karl Storz the TEO-set you have all the instruments you will need for such an intervention. As a reference centre Parc Tauli has acquired a wide experience over more than 14 years. This enables us to transmit this great knowledge through optimally structured training courses since a considerable time. Thanks to this work more than 90 surgeons from approximately 50 centres have been trained with us. Currently and under our knowledge more than 20 centres are implementing and developing this technique. 3 Objectives - Provide the participant with the required theoretical and practical knowledge of the Transanal Endoscopic Operation (TEO) and with interactive questions - Demonstration of the TEO instrumentation and its handling - Show different techniques to cut tissue and show tricks on how to make a proper suture during practical training sessions - Show the procedures in real surgery performance with TEO - Presentation of our experience and related articles published in specialised press, explanation of the different steps of the procedure for rectal adenomas and carcinomas (T1, T2, N0) and giving advice for special cases
