My role was to teach critical appraisal of research. SCHOLARLY ACTIVITIES Hepatology Lecture Series, Northwestern Medical Residency Program - Created and organized a biweekly educational lecture series for the residents and co- authored the lectures Residency Career Development Week, Northwestern Medical Residency Program - Created and helped organize a week of lectures on career development for residents in 2009 and Medical Grand Rounds, Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine - Organized and oversaw the weekly lecture series for our Department of Medicine. 38 total lectures, 30 of which were Visiting Professors. Average weekly attendance exceeded 175 people. Notable lecturers included the Presidents of the AMA, AGA, and AHA as well as the CMO of Merck & Co., the Illinois Director of Public Health, five deans, six departmental chairs, and six division chiefs Structured Interdisciplinary Rounds, Northwestern Memorial Hospital - Acted as Unit Medical Director for a 30- bed nursing unit, leading multidisciplinary rounds among residents, nurses, care facilitators, and pharmacists as a means to improve communication and quality of care. We also measured and directly addressed our unit performance on hospital metrics. Occurred Monday through Friday for an hour each day Team Leader, Inpatient Process & Prep, GI Procedures Right On Time Campaign, University of North Carolina Hospitals - Led a multidisciplinary team of nurses, anesthesiologists and gastroenterologists to review and improve process and preparation for inpatients who require GI procedures. Emphasis was placed on improving morning first case starts. Notable changes included: starting a Morning Huddle to discuss daily cases among GI, anesthesia, and nursing; daily communication between GI and anesthesia to facilitate pre- procedure anesthesia triage and evaluations; creation of a standard inpatient endoscopy list that is updated daily and readily available on the electronic medical record; creation of a nursing education tool

11 Bulsiewicz - 11 and GI procedures check list that are available to floor nurses; opened lines of communication with nursing leadership on the floors; creation and designation of a GI procedures nurse who rounds on floor patients, interfaces with floor nurses, and has a mobile phone for direct contact; modification of the GI procedures scheduling template, addition of the inpatient GI attending in the mornings, and scheduling 2 slam dunk patients as first case starts to help facilitate efficiency of inpatient procedures; modification of the inpatient bowel prep to include a Miralax and Gatorade prep and a split prep. Future goals are to add a GI procedures order set to the electronic medical record.
