2 THIS IS US! Notre Dame High School is an all womyn community in Toronto whose culturally diverse population comes from across the city. We speak to issues of importance to womyn, humanity and by inextricable connection the earth, taking our place as healers through theatre. We rehearse on our gym floor when we can; but MOSTLY in the drama room. soothemysisters productions was formed in 2004 under the direction of Carmela Arangio and Marguerite Jack-Vermey. Together with over 200 ensemble members, we have written and produced EIGHT original productions for the Sears Ontario Drama Festival. Our work has appeared in The Summerworks Theatre Festival, The Luminato Festival, the Uth Daze Festival of Rock Paper, Sistaz, The International Drama Educators Conference, in Telling Tales Out of Schools for People for Education and additionally been published by Playwrights Canada. These many, many AMAZING opportunities have been part of the gift of being involved in the Sears Ontario Drama Festival.

3 THE SHOW The folk tale in Wyld and its companion contemporary stories were first inspired by the account of La Loba from Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes text Women Who Run with The Wolves. Although the elders of Kalpulli Teocalli Ollin assured us the tale was traditional and that we might have permission to use it with their blessing, Dr. Estes claimed the story as hers. The writing process, which started in October, began again and birthed the narrative of our own archetypal wild woman in the character of Solas and her love Scath. Wyld was finally complete by February 1 st and by the 29 th, [a moon cycle!], the production was ready to take to Oakwood Collegiate. Thank you to Mr. Jeff Sereda for reminding us that the opposite of love is fear. Thank you to the Universal Mother, Father, God for the gift of ashes and rebirth. This show is a testament to how we know Her intimately, how She has been taken from us and how we have begun to reclaim Her once again. And so it is. This production is dedicated to Mr. John Glossop with the greatest love and gratitude.

4 BEHIND THE SCENES Solas was born on the eventide of Beltane. She spanned the winged ones and rested between worlds. Her spirit, though beloved of Creator, did not inhabit this earth plane. Even her voice resided in the realm of magic.

5 An increasingly loud clap of thunder is heard; the ensemble turns upstage and becomes a grove of trees in which the following scene is enacted: Scath re-enters manifest in a larger piece of fabric; he is more powerful now. The original melody is played on the violin underpinned by the drum towards the end.

12 Her eyes were wild as she defied him until she no longer breathed. Only when silence reigned did Scath s own grief become a deafening roar. He could not give back what he had taken.

13 Bone of my bone, flesh of my flesh, fire of my fire, I sing to you now. You have felt my blood; my love. I run through your cells: I am your wisdom; your knowing. I am sister, mother, wise woman and I am the wyldness in you-in me. Be reborn unto yourself.

14 Creator said: The shadow is forever banished now because Solas lay within it. There is no fire so strong as the one that is begun in the dark; the sword, cracked and re-forged is made twice beautiful, twice powerful in its mending. Here is my blessing now: henceforth all womyn: maidens, mothers and wise ones shall know her as Protector, the Returned One and Keeper of the Wyld so that they might claim her strength and power as their own. And so it is.
