2 Obituary Dennis Anthony Warren began his life s journey on September 13, 1952 in Chicago, Illinois. He was the oldest of three children. His parents, Donald and Ollie Vet Warren preceded him in death. Dennis grew up on the south side of Chicago. He was educated in the Chicago Public Schools, and attended Altgeld Elementary School and graduated from Carrie Jacobs Bond Upper Grade Center. He then attended Simeon Vocational High School. He loved and excelled in drafting and mechanical drawing where he received many awards. He was always building something and was proud of his inventions. At an early age, Dennis had a fascination with all things military. Because of this, after Simeon, he enlisted in the Navy in Dennis had a deep love of music, particularly old school- he enjoyed singing and would deejay in his youth. Growing up in the church, he sang in the choir and often led songs, or sang solos. His signature was holding the mic stand and leaning forward into the song for emphasis. Growing up in the house with two younger sisters-lorraine and Lynda, Dennis was always very protective and would often from out of nowhere come to their rescue just in the nick of time. In his Navy tour, he spent much of his career on the SS Shenandoah, where he trained and served as a shore officer. He served in the Navy for two years and when he returned home he started his career in private security. He wore many hats as he continued through the years in his career. Dennis began his long tenure with the State of Illinois at the Howe Center in Tinley Park, and then he transferred to Elizabeth Ludeman

3 Center in Park Forest, IL where he served as a mental health technician. He was tremendously committed to assisting patients with mental disabilities. It was there that he found his niche and remained until his retirement in September More importantly, it was at the Ludeman Center that he found the love of his life, Sherry Ann Pamplin. The lyrics to Deborah Cox s song, How Did You Get Here? became a reality and their signature song. Later, they would enjoy several trips to celebrate a belated honeymoon cruise to Costa Rica, and their 14th anniversary trip to Lake Geneva. Dennis and Sherry Ann were blessed to celebrate 15 years of marriage, and a successful blending of family- his 3 and her 2, and all the grands. He was the Pied Piper of children. Throughout his life, children naturally gravitated to him and he loved them immensely in return. Dennis was always a true friend. He maintained lifelong friendshipswith Don Taylor, Don Harper, Ted Powell, and D Artagnan Thomas, who became his brothers. He was not quick to let anyone go. He was also very forgiving, and wanted everybody to live and let live. Dennis was very easygoing and chilled out. Following the death of his parents, he became the comforting elder of the entire family. He was happiest just being a father to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He wanted everyone to be comfortable and have a great time. One of his favorite pass times was barbequing, and he called himself a true carnivore. When it came to travelling, Dennis knew all the roads, in fact his son named him, He who knows the Roads.

4 Last but not least, man s best friend Bear. Dennis leaves to cherish his memory; His loving wife Sherry Ann, and their blended family Daughters; Natasha, Satanna, Cortnee; Sons; Marcus (DiTasha), Roger; Grandchildren: Tierra, Diamond, Emerald, Jade, Willie and Wyatt, Makayla, Savanna, Marcus, Jr. Great-grandchildren; Onyx and Deandre Sam ; Sisters; Lorraine Warren, and Lynda (Norman) Williams; Nephew; Donald. Niece; Sable Aunt; Doris Johnson of Scottsdale, AZ, and Uncle; Robert Warren of Phoenix AZ and a host of family and friends.

5 With You Again Fifteen years of happiness just wasn t enough time To show the world that you were mine. There are no words to express how sad I feel, How lost I am without you; it does not feel real. The day you left, no words did you speak. I held you in my arms and the words, they were mine. I hope you heard me because you were weak No one can answer, but I will find out in time. Married to you I will always be. Memories we made will stay with me. Warm in the feeling that you re still around, Knowing one day all will be found. Wait for me, sweetheart, while my life drifts on by. Sure in the knowledge that one day I ll fly, Back to your arms that will be waiting for me, Back to your heart where I ve wanted to be. Rest assured, babe, my heart is all yours. No one could ever replace what I ve lost. Safe in my heart you will always stay Until my last breath, until my last day. Love, Sherry Ann
