1 Highlights - Three (3) new cvdpv3 were reported this week from Somalia. One (1) case was isolated from Kismayo in South Zone, and two (2) cases came from Mahaday District in Central Zone Objective 1: Build effective partnerships between agencies The CGPP HOA Secretariat team participated in the following coordination and reviews meeting 1. weekly GPEI HOA coordination meeting in Gigiri in Nairobi. 2. ARCC meeting which was reviewing the Country reports. Figure 1: Somalia Annual EPI/Polio Review workshop in Hargeisa, Somaliland Objective 2: Strengthen routine immunization systems Outreach Services A total of 13 outreach sessions conducted in CGPP supported area of Lamu (Lamu East), (Dadaab,Fafi,Hulugho), Lower Juba (Afmadhow,Badhadhe),Nairobi (Kamukunji), (Bardere, Gerilet,Belet Hawa,Elwak and Dollow), (Loima,Kibish, West). The CGPP partners in the ground supported 9 (69%) of the outreach sessions conducted. Children <12 months with OPV birth dose disaggregated by Children < 1 yr Vaccinated with OPV3 disaggregated by 14, 67% 7, 33% 70, 51% 67, 49%
2 Fig. 2: Children < 12 months vaccinated with OPV birth dose Fig.3: Children < 12 months Vaccinated with OPV 3 During the outreach sessions, a total of 248 children < 12 months vaccinated with various antigens. Twenty-one (8%) of the children aged < 12 months were out of the 248 were vaccinated with OPV 0 (birthdose) as shown in fig 2 above. One hundred and thirty-seven (30%) of the children out of the 248 were vaccinated with OPV3. The proportion of males vaccinated with OPV 3 were 67 (49%) while 70 (51%) were females as indicated in Fig. 3 above. FIC children <12 months disaggregted by gender FIC children disaggregated by gender 108, 52% 98, 48% 161, 51% 157, 49% Fig. 3: Fully immunized children < 12 months Fig.4: Fully immunized (FIC) children months According to Fig.4 above, 206 children < 12 months recorded as being fully immunized out of which 98 (48%) were females while 108 (52%) were males. The total number of children registered as FIC under the age category of months were 318 out of which 161 (51%) were males and 157 (49%) being females as per Fig. 4 above. Fifteen (15) children recorded as zero doses, 6 (40%) of the children were males while 9 (60%) were females and it is worth mentioning that the highest number of zero dose cases were reported from Lower Juba 7 (46%) out of the 15 reported. 3 Nairobi (Kamukunji) Lower Juba (Afmadhow & badhadhe) (loima, Kibish West) , Total 82 13,856 2,870 2,712 2, Eighty-two (82) community mobilizers from the 6 CGPP supported areas participated in the social mobilization activities during the reporting week. A total of 2,870 Households visited, 13,856 families visited and 2,712 children <5 years routine immunization and surveillance messages. Also the CMs were able to conduct 138 group meetings,12,495 one on one contact and 93 social mobilization meetings were carried out along the border and nomadic settlements. Defaulter tracing Community Mobilizers conducted defaulter tracing from 5 (83%) out of the 6 Counties/regions which reported in week 41 and managed to trace 215 children who had defaulted Immunization. The highest number of children 106 (49%) were traced in County during the reporting week while in and Kamukunji County did not conduct any defaulter tracing. 4 quarterly basis. The number of special posts during the week was 16 while only, 4 were found to be active in are region and 19 transit route posts as indicated in Table 2 above. The lower Juba team were able to form new linkages with the program with pregnant women and Nutrition services. Objective 3: Support supplemental polio immunization activities Planning and preparation for the second round of bopv continued in, Lamu, Mandera, and Wajir Counties. Objective 4: Support efforts to strengthen AFP surveillance Active case search Visits using ODK Integrated Support Supervisory Checklist 2018 Fig.7: Past 1 Month, Sept Fig.8: Past 1 week, 1st 14th October The area where supervision using ODK was not conducted Integrated Support supervision (ISS) was carried out in 5 out of the 7 GCPP supported area of, Mandera, Wajir, and Lamu County using ODK in the first two weeks (01-14th ) October A total of 77 facilities visited, and it is worth noting that no Integrated support supervision using took place in Marsabit County. The digitized Integrated support supervision (ISS) tool to be used by the Somalia team has been finalized and deployed on the ONA platform. No case of suspected AFP found during the active case search. Capacity building on Routine Immunization and Surveillance where conducted in Lamu and targeting 126 persons ( 107 (84%) and females 19 (16%). Security A grenade attack on a family meeting in. Fortunately, no casualty/fatality reported, and in Lower Juba, insurgents raided a police post in the Somalia border town of Diff Planned activities week of 7th-14th October Participate and support EPI outreach sessions. 2.
