1 CGPP Kenya and Somalia Bi-Weekly Project Implementation Updates Week 25 (March 18 24, 2019) Key Highlights No new VDPV2 or Sabin 2 isolated from environmental surveillance sites in HOA this week. No Sabin Like 2 isolates from ES in Last avdpv2 from environmental surveillance sample isolated from Egyptian Hospital site in Mogadishu, Somalia. Date of sample collection was 3 February Somalia No cvdpv-2 or cvdpv-3 isolated from AFP cases and contacts or from the environmental samples in 2019 A total of 58 AFP cases reported in 2019 of which 46 are discarded and 12 are in lab. There are no PV-2 or PV-3 isolated from AFP cases or contacts in 2019 A total of 16 Environmental Surveillance (ES) samples were collected in 2019 from four (4) ES sites and sent to the lab for processing. Eight (8) samples were negative, three (3) had EV, one (1) was positive for avdpv2, and four (4) are pending PCR processing in the lab. Kenya A total of 130 AFP cases reported in 2019, 95 cases during similar period in 2018.National Non-polio AFP rate is at 3.10 & Stool adequacy of 88.0%; both meeting recommended targets. Of 47 counties 43(91.5%) have detected an AFP case. Nineteen (40.4%) counties have Non-polio AFP rate of >=2/100,000 and Stool adequacy of >=80%. Partnerships and coordination of Polio and GHSA activities during the week; The CGPP Secretariat conducted a joint a field support supervision visit to Turkana of Kenya and Gedo region in Somalia. CGPP provided technical and logistic support for Measles mop-up campaign in Wajir county, Kenya. CGPP provided technical and logistic support for bopv SIA planning and implementation in Lower Juba and Gedo region border districts of Somalia. Collaborated with WHO on the social mapping of the high-risks border district/sub-counties in Kenya and Somalia Supported the monthly partner's coordination meeting in Lower Juba, Somalia.
