2 Somalia cvdpv2 update 3 new VDPV2s are isolated from 2 environmental samples collected from an ES site called KAWMA' sewage site, in Hamerewoini district in Banadir region in Central zone Samples were collected one week apart on 4th and 11th of January 218 Sequencing results were received from the CDC on February 1, 218 The VDPV2 from the first sample had 44 and 38 NT different from the parent Sabin and the second was 4 NT The 3 new viruses are genetically linked to previous ES viruses detected in 21October site. These are classified as cvdpv2 as per guidelines Site name: 21October site 3 VDPV2s isolated from 2 Samples-217 Kawma sewage site was established on 2th September 217 and a total of 16 samples were collected since establishment Site name: Kawma 3 VDPLV2s isolated from 2 samples-218

4 mopv2 second round campaign The second round mopv2 campaign conducted from 29 January 1 February 218 in all 29 accessible and partially accessible districts of Banadir, Lower Shabelle and Middle Shabelle targeting 726, under 5 children. Preliminary data collected through the ODK showers most districts have achieved more than 9% administrative and intra-campaign independent monitoring coverage. Data collected through the ODK in Banadir region shows, there are 413,577 under 5 children vaccinated which is 98% of the target. Both intra-campaign and post campaign data also shows 91%. Proportion of households who are aware about the campaign were found 85%. All vials distributed to vaccinators (Unopened/Opened/Used) were collected and no single vial reported missing far mopv2 Round 2. The DPOs received their clearance letter of handing over mopv2 Vials to cold chain team.

All of these districts reported AFP cases in 218 have annualized NP-AFP rate above 2 and also Stool adequacy rate above 8%. The remaining 86 districts have not reported any AFP case in 218 however there is no district in Somalia which is silent for more than 52 consecutive weeks.
